Default I was WARNED!!

Okay, on my first cruise we booked a cat 11.
Everyone said, you'll never be satisfied with anything less, and the're right.
For our second cruise I'm booked for a balcony guarantee... but I woke up with a bug this morning, that said if we are going to be on the ship for 7 days this time, why not be comfortable...
So I'm trying to find a reasonable upgrade price for a cat 11 through my TA, wish me luck!

Change it..... Once you have a balcony it is hard to go back.... to an inside room. I didn't mind our inside room on our 1st cruise but once we had a balcony, well it's no decision now..........

i kinda sorta not really agree....

we did a balcony first...it was awsome.

a few months later we did a window room. Ok ofcourse we missed the balcony (my hubby worse then me) but we got to cruise, where if we did the balcony we couldnt have taken our son with us. It was a no brainer.

I'd do any cruise in a heart beat with an inside cabin if it meant going or not, but if i had the extra money i'd do a cabin.

However that being said, i will probably not do an inside ever unless had to, but could do a window wiht no problem. I just dont think i could stand not being able to look outside to see if it was morning or if we were in port or even moving lol.

I figure i can cruise more often if i do some windows vs balconys, so i'll stick with either!

When I first started cruising the room did not matter but now after
having a balcony for years I could not go back to a different cabin.
Funny how your taste change.
We have friends that always book a inside cabin and the last cruise
we were on they came over and used our balcony and now they
wont have anything less.
Spoiled as we are now.

On one of our cruises we were upgraded from a balcony to a suite... I told my travel agent I'm sure it's a ploy by Carnival to spoil us.

Our upcoming cruise: A suite

AHA, now I have back up from others to understand WHY I will be disappointed if I can't upgrade my free cruise to a balcony (but I will use it on a shorter 4 or 5 day cruise). BLACONIES ROCK!!!

I too have had a Cat 11 suite and loved it, however, I know it wo't happen again for a while and I am more than content to have a standard balcony cabin. I'll be travelling alone, so a balcony cabin is ample space for one person!!!!!!

There is nothing like waking up and just sitting on the balcony in your jammies looking like hell to slowly wake up and get ready for the day. There is also the natural hair drier effect the balcony has--10 minutes on the balcony (on a average day) and your hair is dry!!!!!

I would love to go up to a Cat 11 again, but I would have to find two other people to come with me to split the costs, and I really don't like sleeping in a twin bed (I tend to sprawl out in bed and a twin is a little small).....

We should start a thread on all the balcony lovers out there and how it is difficult to go down to a ocean view or a inside after a balcony, OR a suite!!!

Actually, The Cat 11 on the Paradise is just like a balcony cabin on the spirit or conquest class ships. If you can't upgrade, you should be fine!

I see you were on the Triumph last year. Did you like it? We sail on her next month. Balcony cabin in the front of the ship, level 6 (upper).
Thanks,

We were upgraded to a cat 12 suite on the Elation a few years ago. Ever since my husband had wanted another suite. I wanted the larger balcony of the L shaped cat 8A rooms, so we booked those a couple of times. In January we had a cat 9 corner room, WOW! On our upcoming cruise on the Legend we booked another corner room EXCEPT on the Spirit class ships the corners are cat 11 suites. Now we will have the ultimate spoiledge experience.. a suite AND a corner!!

I booked a balcony once and loved it. Most of the time I sail solo and cannot do the balcony with the single supplement. Sometimes if I am rooming with someone we try for a balcony.

Ought Oh! After reading everyone's comments I'm a little worried. I signed up for the CruiseMates Blogger's 2 Cruise for Feb. '09 out of New Orleans, and I went for the window instead of balcony. The last two cruises we've done we've had a balcony and we are spoiled, too. Hope I won't regret this.
