Obstructed view with French doors?

Has anyone stayed in this category room before?

Is there a balcony or do the french doors just open inside?

Are the life boats right outside or are they a little above or below?

I found this and one other photo. Click on it to enlarge. This is on the Legend. You can do a search on Webshots.com, type in the ship and the word cabin. It will come up with lots of photos of different ships.

huh french doors?? looks like standard balcony cabin with a big white life boat on it lol.

I would rather just have a window that is unobstructed, but maybe if you smoke or such it'd be ok, or if SOME of it was unobstructed (but that looks totally obstructed...)

Some of the "obstructed view" cabins are completely obstructed from what I have seen. I can't find the other picture I had seen that was a little better. I don't think I could stand looking at the lifeboat. I love the view from an "unobstucted" balcony.

we've stayed in those, view IS obstructed by lifeboat bang infront of your cabin doors, they do open inwards. Some cabin doors are in between lifeboats, try to get one of those, the view straight ahead as you look out is pretty much unobstructed, so to speak.

An obstructed view balcony is better than no balcony…. I don't do well in elevators just going a floor or two, can't even imagine being in an inside or room with a window i can't get out of..

Can you say… Claustrophobia?

My sister needs a room on the same floor for my niece and friend and is looking to same some money. (There are no insides on the Legend in 8a.)

She says they can have a better view when they can pay for it, lol

The picture they are showing is of a 5A (french doors) 4194 on the Spirit Class ships.

We had this cabin on the Pride and it was fine. We liked it so much in fact that we just booked it again on the Legend.

The french doors do open. There is a thick glass (or plexiglass or whatever they use that is clear and strong) that is immediately "there" as soon as you open the door...so there is no balcony of any kind. This "glass" is a little taller than waist high.

And yes, there are lifeboats....but in this cabin (as the pictures show) you can see between them. This is actually considered a "partically obstructed" view...because you can still see between the 2 lifeboats. There are fully obstructed (I don't have a picture of those, sorry) that have one lifeboat completely blocking the view.

Another tip...make sure you keep your drapes closed when changing clothes and keep the french doors locked when you are not in your cabin...they do maintenance on these lifeboats all the time.

Our daughters stayed in a 5A on Miracle last year and they loved it. They had only had insides on previous cruises so they felt it was a step up. They liked opening the door even though they had little if any view.

For me definitely worthwhile. I got a window that opened, fresh air, and "some" view. I would do it again today if I had the option.
