Default Need something to do day before cruise from Miami

Help!!! I'm cruising for 4 days out of Miami on March 24. Middle age couple with 2 teenage girls. I'm flying to Miami one day early, March 23. What should I do for that one day? I prefer not to rent a car since its only one day and I don't want to have to bring car back to airport. Don't need tons of stuff but don't want to be stuck in a hotel all day either.

People suggest South Beach but for less than a day, it doesn't seem worth it. Where should I stay? Some have suggested staying near Port of Miami but is there anything to do anround there?

HELP----time is near---only a week away!!!!!

Why not book a hotel near Bayside, there are plenty of hotels there, that can shuttle you to the port after your stay. Tons of great shops and restaurants there, sure to please teenage girls. Ask your concierge, there may be a shuttle bus, that might give you other options. Good luck, & have a ball!

stay over in bayside - much cheaper and quick taxi ride over bridge to 5th st and ocean in south beach. walk around art deco and lots of shopping on lincoln road (pedistrian street). def worth going to and seeing ocean drive especially at night when neon lights comes on.

sorry had to jump off wedsite abrupty at work.

licoln road is pedestrian street with lot of cafes, shops, and people watching. Van dykes cafe and cafeteria are both hip and inexpensive places to eat. Most of cafe's on ocean tend to very expensive except for there few "bait items" they advertise heavily when you are walking past their place.

Drive to Orlando and back. (I know, it is a long drive).

We are doing the same thing. We are arriving the day before our cruise and staying in Miami.

We are staying at the Amerisuites in Miami Airport West. Is on 82nd Avenue.

We would like to walk to a some stores to pick up some pop(soda) and maybe go to a fast food place to eat.

Is anyone familiar with that area?

Thank you
Darlene

Thanks for the advice. Picked the Marriott Courtyard near Bayside. Some of the hotels in that area sound pretty dumpy, but how can I go wrong with Marriott?

Its only a day and it sounds like there will be enough to do to keep us busy.
