To pre-purchase booze call Carnival's Bon Voyage Department 1-800-522-7648.

The gift area on their web site only shows wine, but you can get liquor as well.

I didn't think the cost would be that high for scotch but then again the wine prices are sometimes double or tripled than what you pay in a liquor store. I just took the wine list from the ship and compared the price from the ship vs paying for it in the store and was very surprised.

$40 for a litre is about $1 /shot. It's not as inexpensive as buying a bottle in a bottle store and taking it home with you.... but then drinking a bottle at home isn't near as much fun as drinking it on a ship.

The same holds true of wine. Wait until you get to Margaritaville or Carlos & Charlies, and hand out $10 -15 for yarddrinks willingingly

Thanks Rp. How come this can be in your room before the cruise but when you buy it while you are cruising they wait until the last day to give it to you to take off the ship?

Ro. That is what I'am trying to understand myself. If you can buy it befor and have it in your room, then why not on the ship or at port.

Rp it makes no sense to me what so ever but I guess that is how they do business. I still have to call about a small bottle of scotch so my Kenny can have it in the room. Its vacation time so he may as well have fun especially since he is not driving home.

Default Rum, Scotch, Wine etc. in the room

They'll let you have the bottle you bought from them because they got $$$ from you for it. They won't let you have bottles you buy in port because that keeps them from getting more of your $$$. They want us out and about buying drinks from them, not pouring them for free in the room. Same reason you can't bring any alcohol in your luggage. I am going to check out the price of Rum myself. I always thought you could only order wine. It is great to have such informed posters out there!!! Thanks! 8)

I ordered a bottle of Myer's dark rum 1 Lt. $40. Also some Irish Cream for $45. If you order be sure and have a copy of the order faxed or emailed to you and bring it when you cruise. If they mess up and not deliver, you've got proof (intentional pun)...

$40 for a bottle of rum is pretty high but its certainly cheaper than ordering from the bar. The real question is if you want to stow a bottle in your luggage and see if it will make it through security. The question not answered still is why you can order booze ahead of time but not from the Carnival gift shops and take it directly to your cabin? They can price it higher in the shops if they wanted to as well. Maybe they let you order early as we are all savvy shopers. I think the impulse sales on board would hurt bar sales. Anyway what the heck do I know anyway?

Has anyone ever emptied a dark bottle of wine, refilled with whiskey and then recorked, placed a new shrink wrap seal on it and carried on board as your one bottle of wine allowed?

Sounds like a lot of work to recork and wrap a wine bottle but its all a game right? Trying to "beat the man". What I like to do is have a empty bottle of water and fill it with rum or any other clear liquid. I have actually heard of people carrying it in their hand while boarding and nobody is the wiser. Im not sure I have enough guts to try it but who knows?

It's not that hard to recork and place a shrink wrap on. I am a wine maker and it would only be about 5 mintues worth of work to do 2 bottles. I think that I may try.

i always take a bottle of vodka w/me. i've had it in my carry on and in my luggage and have never had it taken away. my cousin had a bottle break in his luggage once and it soaked his clothes but he didnt pad it properly. worst case scenario they take it.
