Default buying items in ports

hello, are there rules on what you can and cannot bring back on the ship after visiting a port? are you allowed to bring back alcohol on board?

They confiscate the alcohol you buy in port and hold it trill the last night.

I always wondered if they stopped you from bring food back on to the ship?

Like maybe fruit or live flowers??

When it comes to the alcohol, remember that it has to be taken back home in checked luggage or have a tag on it for the airlines to put in in the storage of the plane.

I don't recall getting a receipt for the alcohol they hold till last night. Never had a problem having it delivered to cabin. As for what you can bring back on board, we have never tried to bring on live plants but we have brought on sodas and stuff like that and also souviners.

Wow!!!

That is so funny and unreal. Was that towards the end of the cruise???

It must have been a very small and quiet dog to be not noticed.

He also took a big chance.

You can buy alcohol on the islands and the ship will take it and
deliver it to your room.
Now you use to be able to carry it on the plane but not any more.
when we were on vacation a few months ago we had to pack it
in our suite case and just hope it did not break in the flight home.
did buy bubble wrap and wrap it so it lived.
No plants or fruit can be brought on the ship or taken off.
You can buy soda and bring in on and take it to your room.
I have done that.
there is a list of things you can not bring back and when you are
in your morning meetings the day before each port they will also
tell you what you can and can not bring on or off the ship.
Those meetings are very nice and important to know the do's and dont's
so I always go , even if I have been to the island before.

They will answer all questions at the meetings.

Thank you Sammy.
We have gone to the meetings also.

Are there things you can't take off the ship? We were planning on maybe taking some snacks(maybe sandwiches and some fruit) packed in the small coolers for excursions.

I have been on three cruises since Jan 07 and I have yet to have the one bottle of booze I bought taken from me and kept until the last night. I know if you buy several bottles and it is clear you have them, then they would take it and hold it for you.

Maybe I am lucky. Perhaps I don't look like I'd drink the booze before we got back to home port...

Makes you wonder where the dog did its business? Could you imagine the smell in that cabin?

My suggestion is to check with someone on the Excursion desk as to what restrictions might apply.

I know that you can NOT bring flowers and fruits back into the United States - they are concerned that these items can introduce pests, etc into the ecosystem.

Thank you...
Does anyone know if there are restrictions of what you can't take off the ship?

We have taken things from the buffet off the ship to eat while on excursions. We just wrapped them up and took them off.
