WINE IN A BOX AND 1.75 LITERS OF ALL SORTS OF LIQUER IN PLASTIC CONTAINERS AND BUBLE WRAP OR TOWELS. 6 CCL CRUISES AND HAVE RECEIVED ALL IN CABIN WITH THE ROOM GUY/GAL WILLING TO PUT IN ON ICE DAILY, WITHOUT ASKING. ALL WAS IN CHECKED LUGGAGE, PACKED WELL.
Have put Vodka in a large water bottle and put in luggage on every cruise. I never had a problem. I really never drank much of it but occasionally would order tomato juice with room service and have myself a bloody mary.
I am going to take a very small amount of rum in my checked luggage. I have wrapped it in bubble wrap and put it in a zip lock bag. I tucked it in my jacket very well.
We want to use it for a few drinks while sitting on our deck. We usually buy the drink of the day and I can't wait to get a monkey head

Dont forget to make sure it is a plastic type cap so it is almost virtually undetectable. Sure will miss you and your posts while you are gone!!

CruiseNoid: You are so sweet to say that You made my day..
I will probably shake and drink to excess the first 2 days because I will not have my computer in front of me
I Know I am addicted to these boards. I have met so many wonderful people here.
I will think of all of you and post when I get back.
When we sailed out of Miami on the Triump last summer, one member of our group walked through the checkin line pulling a cooler full of liquor. We all stood back and watched knowing it would be taken. For some unknow reason no one said anything to him. He walked right through everything and right onto the ship. Mind you I am not talking about a little cooler. I am talking about a good size cooler on wheels. When I find the picture of him coming on board I will post it up. I guess some people are just lucky. I would have been scared to death.
We took a soft side roll on cooler in our carryon a few years ago and it was full of canned ginger ale. Recently Carnival changed their carryon cooler restriction to a 12x12x12, so when my daughter attempted to check in her soft side roll on cooler of bottled water last month, it was confiscated. The cooler had her 15year old son's luggage tag on it and when he tried to scan his S&S card in to leave the terminal and go to the ship, he was pulled from the line. They were told there was a problem with the checked luggage. She just knew it was the bottle of Peach Schapps she had put into his suitcase, but it was the cooler. She was able to claim it when we got back to New Orleans. She packed booze in mouthwash bottles in her checked luggage and I put an unopened bottle of Peach Schnaaps in a ziploc bag and put a hand towel in the bag to catch spills in case of breakage. Never had any problem with the booze, just the cooler of water.

If it looks like a bottle of booze when it goes through the machine expect it to get pinched. If it doesnt consider yourself lucky.
Use an unbreakable container that wont leak.
I'll leave it at that......Im not giving away my secrets.

the cruise that we were on 2 times back didn't catch the guy who came on with hard liquior smuggled in his scope bottles and shampoo bottles
WELL needless to say he fell overboard and was never seen again----he had party on his mind and nothing else--he friends admitted what he had done when they viewed the cameras of this demise --- so I would say that they have gottten stricker that they were
I would not advise it-----

I've been "preparing" a black shampoo bottle that'll hold about 32 oz of Jack Daniels, but after reading the posts above, I may just put a bottle in my luggage...
It's our first cruise so we're completely clueless as to what we should expect.
Last fall on the Valor, we put a box of pre-mixed Cosmos into my luggage. It was still there when I unpacked. I never even opened it. I gave it away to my room steward. (He was happy!)
I packed a big bottle of rum in my bag plus a 6 pack of bottled beer and it made it to my room with no problem. Didnt think the beer would make it but it did. Saved me quite a bit considering we drank most of the booze the first couple of days when the party atmosphere is strong. Until I get caught I am sure I will continue to smuggle the adult beverages!
We used our rum mostly for drinks in our cabin and on the balcony. We bought many drinks from the waiters. Monkey head, drinks of the day and the ship's tail glass.
Only a few times did we take the drinks with us out of the cabin.
I watched a scanner pick up a bottle of Tequila when boarding a Carnival ship recently. They pulled the bag out of the line and took the bottle away. The passenger said he didn't attempt to hide it as he had been told he could bring it onboard, just that he couldn't open it (it was a duty-free purchase pre-cruise).
They made a pretty big production out of taking it away - calling security and all. Looked to me like they were trying to embarass him a little, though it was taking so long I didn't wait to see how it turned out. I am guessing he was able to retrieve it after the cruise.
