Default sign and sail - pre-cruise deposit

I'd like to put my cash on my sign and sail now even though I have a card. I have a strict budget this time and want to divest myself of the cash now so that I don't spend it on cruise last minute impulses. Can we do that through the website or do we need to call Carnival directly?

I think you might want to call carnival and check but I think when
you get to the ship they have to run a credit card and give them
cash at that time and if you spend it all they will let you know if you
need to put more cash in deposit.

We have been putting on board credit on our sign and sail for over a year in little amounts out of each paycheck for our coming cruise in April. We each now have $200 on it. We did it by purchasing Fun ship dollars and having them applied ahead of time to take the edge off of having a huge balance at the end of the cruise. We also purchase our drink coupons & photo coupons on the web site so that is paid ahead of time also. That on board credit also are the tips they make you prepay before you cruise. We don't buy alot of things onboard except some cigs for the grown kids so the rest of the money usually goes to the supper club or to buy a wine bottle etc at dinner.

Can you start purchasing funship dollars and having them applied as onboard credit before your cruise is paid for? We just booked for a cruise on 11/8/2009 (589 days away ). I would really love to have as much paid for in advance as possible.
