Default Beaches for Half Moon Cay

The family will be sailing the Carnival Liberty to the Eastern Caribbean - Half Moon Cay, San Juan, St Thomas and Grand Turk.

We thought that we would simply go to the beach in Half Moon Cay - are there any public beaches that are readily accessible from the pier?

Thanks

Half Moon Cay is a private island used by the cruise line, and is a slice of heaven! It is small enough that everything is easily accessible. The beach is one of the most beautiful I've seen. Do a search and check out the pictures and comments that have been made about Half Moon Cay.

The majority of the place is beach.. BEAUTIFUL
You'll have no problem with space. If you want a real treat for the family book a Cabana. If you don't want to splurge, you should probably at least book a clamshell for shade.

We were just there and it is wonderful.

You will tender in and there will be a "sea" (yes, a pun is intended) of chairs available to you completely free of charge.

AND Carnival brings a free lunch to the island for you so that you don't have to go back to the ship to eat.

They will also be selling the alcohol, soda and bottled water...but there will be ice tea and juice for free with your meal.

They do charge for the clamshells. Which I believe were $15. One trick....get one of the dinner plates to prop the back of the clamshell up a little...so that you get a breeze.

Half Moon Cay is one of the most beautiful places we've ever been! Like the sign at the one bar says "I WISH I COULD STAY HERE FOREVER". It is the perfect place to just relax and hang out. We love getting a hammock in the trees and just enjoying the ocean breeze. The beach and the water are so clean. We've been there twice (once with Carnival and once with HAL). Maybe someday we'll be lucky to go there again! 8)

We have been there many times on Holland. Its their private island and
is beautiful beyond words. You will have a wonderful day there. Holland
does BBq for their guests which is great.

My first trip on Carnival Liberty is April 12,first time on this cruise line.

Do you book the Cabana's on board? I can certainly use the shade, given that I will be seeing my Dermatologist shortly after returning.

I've only visited the island with Holland America. On HAL you can prebook the cabanas along with other excursions online. Not sure how Carnival does it.

HMC is paradise, simply paradise. Now the only problem you enoucnter with it is getting off tyhe ship quickly. If you booked a tour or a cabana you get off the ship first, otherwise everyone has to line up and get tender stickers. I was off the ship at around 9am and around 11am people were STILL tendering off the ship. The beach was full by 10:30, but there were plnety of chairs, but at that time you have to walk around and look. I walked down past the church and over to the "I wish I could stay here forever" bar and got a chair there and hung out there until my tour at 11am. The water is warm, the sand is like powder.

I will be getting a cabana, if there are any left, when I am on the Liberty in September. If I can't get a cabana then I'll book a tour for as late as possible and just enjoy the beach and such. I will be taking more pictures this time.....
