Default Valor Departure - April 08

Travelling on the Valor from April 27th - May 4th. Can anyone advise if they are going and which excursions are the best in:

Grand Cayman
Roatan
Belize City
Cozumel

We are counting down the days!

Married Couple (30's) from Frigid - Philadelphia Area.

Eagle:
We have done this cruise before. I would recommend the Stingray city tour in the Grand Caymen. We haven't been to Belize or Roatan yet.

We are going on the Valor in May, so please let me know how it was?

Default Thanks For The Response

Redwitch .

I'll let you know how things went when we return. Can you advised on whether or not we will miss the springbreak crowd? We figured thins would be slow toward the end of April which is why we choose the Valor cruise Apr 27 - May 4th.. We are hoping for nice relaxing vacation since we will be leaving two toddler's behind..

Eaglesfan -

Here are some suggestions for excursion that I have done and enjoyed!

Belize - Goff's Cay Snorkle and Beach Break. Great Snorkling and relaxing!

Roatan - Go on any excursion to Gumblimba Park! You get to see Parrots, Monkey's and they have a nice little beach area as well! It was so much fun!

Cozumel - My friend and I did the Bike/Snorkle to Chanakanub Lagoon. The Lagoon was really nice and I would suggest going there on your own. The Snorkling was fun and the fish had no fear!

Just wanted to give an overview...let me know if you have any questions!

Take Care
Ashley

Default Thanks Darlene and Ashley

[color=darkred]For your responses!

Do you reccomend booking the excursions before we leave or after we get to the port. My wife is concerned we might be SOL if things are booked up during our cruise...

Please advise and if you can name a tour company from each island you'd reccomend we would apprecate it. Our preference is to lounge on the beach, sip a few lbeverages and maybe snokel in the shallow water.

Thanks again!

We booked our excursions through the ship. If you plan to do that you might as well go ahead and book them before you leave. That way its already paid for and it won't been on your S&S account. Also if you end up missing the port they will give you a refund in the form of shipboard credit.

For Roatan and Belize, you will have to book those specific excursions thru the ship, as they cannot be booked thru an independent operator.

For Channaknub you can just take a taxi there. I can't remember the entrance fee.

Let me know if you want to see pics to get a better idea of what I am talking about!

Until next time!
Ashley

Ashley: Why do these have to be booked from the ship and not once you get to port? This will be our first time on these ports

We usually book all our excursions from the independants, much cheaper.

We will most likely just sit on a beach somewhere anyway. To much of a hassle to get places on time. The only planned one is the Stingray City one....

Darlene -
We were told numerous times and I have read that Goff's Cay was only done thru the ship. Its a remote cay, smaller than a football field, no bathroom, no restaurant/food, and no phone on this cay. I don't know if I would want to do it outside of a ship excursion knowing those facts. They bring out a Port-a-potty on a little speedboat. You are picked up from the ship.

I would say if you are really wanting to go to Goff's Cay, I wouldn't wait until you are there to find an independant operator. It was about a 30 min fast boat ride from the ship in the opposite direction of Belize city. The Tender into Belize City is about 15-20 mins.

As for Gumblimba Park, from what we learned (and I have read a few places) the Park closes to outside business when Ships are in port and that only those on ship booked excursions were allowed entrance. I may have misunderstood but that seemed to be the general consensus. However I would hate for you to get there and not be allowed in. But if you really want to go, look around, you may find some information that I have not had access to.

My friend and I tend to book through the ship for ports we have not been to before. I agree that independants are a cheaper option but if I am not familiar with my surroundings I like the peace of mind that comes with booking through the ship. But if you want to just sit on a beach somewhere then I am sure you can find that without too much issue.

Thank you, I will keep that in mind if we do decide to anything other than sit on the beach somewhere.

We really haven't decided to much of anything. Our meeting with the group is this "Saturday and I will let them know what you told me
