This just in from Carnival.
For group bookings made on or before November 6, 2007 for cruises on or after February 1, 2008, the fuel supplement refund will now apply to group guests if Carnival received the names and the deposit required in the group contract by November 30, 2007. If the amount required in the group contrct was only the initial deposit, and the amount was provided by November 30, then the guest will be eligible for the fuel supplement refund.
I talked to my travel agent, Trish at cruisesnmore, she told me I'd have to contact the purser's desk while on my cruise in July '08, to receive the refund. I don't agree. I booked with her. She without my consent through in the extra amt. on my final payment. It seems she charged my card therefore she should give me the credit. Am I wrong???

Per Carnival "For Cruises departing on or after June 24, 2008, guests' bookings will be adjusted to eliminate the fuel supplement." This is in a letter that I got direct from Carnival. Since your cruise is not leaving until some time in July Carnivale is going to give the refund in the same manner that it was received. If your TA used their card to make the payment Carnival will credit their card. If your TA used your card to pay Carnival then the credit will go back on your card. If you PM me your email address I will send you a copy of the letter form Carnival. It would be kind of hard for your TA to dispute that.
We made our deposit in October 2007 thru a travel agent and was given a booking number and paid it off in March 2008. We are sailing June 22-29, 2008. Are you saying that because we booked thru a travel agent we are not entitled to the refund for the fuel charges? Any information given will be helpful.
Thanks

No you are still entitled to the refund. How the surcharge was paid determines how the refund is given. Another thing you have to take into consideration is your TA. I know that Carnival did not charge the TA's the full amount of the surcharge. TA's collected $70 but Carnival gave them a $10 rebate for collecting it. If your TA does not give you your refund its time to find another TA. If your TA paid Carnival with a company credit card then Carnival is going to put the refund on their card and the TA should credit you back for that. If your TA used your card to pay Carnival and some of them do. Then Carnival is going to credit your card back.
We are cruising in 12 days. Never received any emails and have called Carnival direct many times. They seem to not say much about the refund. I keep calling and asking and the same statement is given to us you should receive the refund but its not listed yet. We booked over a year ago and they placed the gas surcharge on when the cruise was just about paid off on Jan 3. I can't understand how some people got emails and notices sent and others like ourselves can't seem to get a direct answer. I booked it direct through Carnival. I just called again tonight & the rep didn't know anything about it. Can't figure them out.

This is a quote from the letter that I got from Carnival. "For cruises departing from April 5, 2008 through June 23, 2008 guest will receive an on-board credit."
If you send me your email address or a fax number I will get you a copy of this letter to take with you.
