I am not sure about the air plane because drove. But yes you can take it on the ship with you.We took water with us last summer. the water we didn't drink we left there. I would put it in your carrie on luggage. You would be surprised what your luggage goes through before you get it to you cabin.
You can only carry water in your checked luggage although you might want to wait until you get to your destination before weighing down your bag. There are weight restrictions on your checked luggage.
Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.

what we have done in the past is take empty water bottles with us and then fill them up whenever we wanted. take like one or two empty bottles per person. doesnt weigh alot and serves the same purpose. there are places throughout the ship to fill the bottles up. just my opinion =]

Thats a good idea bringing water bottles, that really cuts down on your bag weight. If anything buy it at destination! The airlines are charging more and more for overweight bags so save yourself the trouble! You may end up costing yourself a bundle by not observing baggage weight policies.
Hope you have a happy, and hydrated cruise
