Default Casino's on ship "coins or cash?"

I still have not gambled on the ships I have been on. Do you use cash, sign and sail or do you get quarters like a regular casino if you like to play slots?

You can use coins, bills or put it on your S & S card (3% charge for doing this)

Thanks all for answering my casino question. I guess each time I cruised I was to busy running around the ship to even venture into the casino but this time I plan on going in for awhile just to have some fun.

I just got off the Fascination on the 24th of March I used cash and bills and my ship and sail card at times , there was no fee I asked and I checked my final bill to make sure. Also I won $600.00 on slot machine and I didnt give but a $150.00 back the rest I got smart and kept.

There is nothing like the sound of the money hitting the tray when you win
That is why I am glad they still use coins.....

Yes most of the land based casinos are getting away from using coins because of the obvious savings in labor. I think its only a matter of time before the ships do the same. I think though that allowing direct charging on a sail & sign card might lead to some people losing track of how much they gambled, and therefore getting into trouble. I think therefore that having to at least handle cash (either in bill or coins) is a good thing.

Also although its a minimal expense for most people I consider that 3% charge for the sail & sign to be nothing but a cash grap by the cruise line.

Best advise: set aside a certain amount of cash for gambling before you cruise and when its done leave the casino.

Personally I like the slot and blackjack tourneys but thats just me. Yeah I know the odds of winning these are slim but if I can afford the cruise I can afford the $20 entrance fee I never enter more then once. I have a Carnival T-Shirt from coming in second place in a slot tourney on my first cruise The $50 is long gone but the T-shirt brings back the memory of the fun.

Ya only live once

I like the slots. My husband like to play Black Jack.

I know the places around here that we gamble, do not have coin payouts. They do have the sound of money hitting the tray though.

Are you saying that the ships still have the coins that come as a payout onto the tray?

Darlene:
