Anyone cruised on Sensation out of Port Canaveral recently? My wife and I leave 6/29 for our 1st cruise. Anyone have any "must do's" in Freeport or Nassau? My wife and I are thinking about doing the Atlantis day-pass excursion through Carnival but looking for confirmation that its worth the $$.
Anyway, really excited so just looking for any info we can get on Sensation and Bahama cruise.
DH and I were on the Sensation January 3rd. We had a wonderful time. We only went to Nassau. We just enjoy walking around the town. We were with a group of friends and ate lunch at Senior Frogs. That was a blast. Then we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for drinks. They have a great bartender there.
This was our 2nd cruise to Nassau. The first was on the Fantasy in 2002. We have one planned for March 2009 on the Inspiration.
We will be on the Sensation at the end of August to Nassau and Freeport. This will be our 12th cruise and our 3rd to the Bahamas. Last time in Nassau, we booked the Carnival Blackbeard's Cay excursion. It was very reasonable in price and we loved it. They took us out on a boat that probably held about 75 to 100 passengers, played nice music and had drinks. The beach and water were gorgeous and there was a nice place to get lunch there (next door to Sandals). Some of the group added the stingray swim to their excursion, but we just enjoyed the water and the beach.
We were back to the ship for lunch and a quick change of clothes, then took a taxi over to Atlantis where we went throught Casino and I got a players card and then we went to the aquarium and looked around the shops there. We still made it back to the ship in time to shower and dress for dinner. It was a very nice, relaxing day.

I was on Sensation with my teenage son July 29/Aug 3, 2007 and we did the glass bottom boat in Freeport (make sure to take dramamine - big waves out where they take you!) and the Atlantis tour in Nassau. Also booked the Historical Highlights Tour but couldn't manage facing the heat and humidity again - I plan to do that bus tour when I'm back in Nassau on my June 2009 Valor crusie.
If you want to really use the Atlantis water park and all that, and plan to spend most of the day there then it might be worth the cost. Their aquarium is nice - best part for us were the huge ray , Zeus, who I believe has been released into the wild since then because he was so big. I have video footage of him. The resort is gorgeous and I can imagine relaxing there, we just did the tour of the Dig though, which includes a very brief walk through the interior of the resort/lobby.
