Okay, this might sound strange but here goes...
If you get on board credit with your booking, and you add addition cash to your card... do you have to specify that you are using the "free" on board credit, or will you be able to take the entire balance at the end of the cruise?
In other words, once they give it to you, they won't take it back right?
told you it was strange....

I would say at the end of the cruise if you still have money
left on the account they would have to return it to you.
they dont leave a balance.
I know I buy lots of gift cert. for my self to put on my sign
and sail card and I will get a return if I dont use it all.
Most of the time I do but there is always a first time.
It depends on what the OBC is comprised of. If the OBC is a result of gift certificates that you applied to your account so that you would have it there for spending they refund any remaining balance in the form of a cheque at the end of the cruise. However, if the OBC was a perk for booking they do not give you cash back if there is anything left over. We applied $750 funship dollars to our account a couple years ago and we had also been given a $200 OBC for booking the cruise, they used the $200 first and then refunded the portion that we did not use of the $750.
However, we also took a short cruise and had $150 OBC that we only spent $129 and when we asked they told us to spent the last $21 before they close the account at the end of the sailing because they do not refund that type of OBC.
Okay, according to my TA she says they usually use the OBC given with the promotion first... and then whatever you added after that in the order it was applied to your card.
If they give you 200 and you end up only using 150 (yeah right) they will not give you back the difference...
That's OBC that they gave to you with a promotion of some sort.
Not fun bucks or cash you applied.. that you get all of the balance back.
I guess if u r concerned about not getting it all. Just go to the casino and take out a lump some and then cash it in in a bit later. that way u have the cash in your hand then. But i think u got a lot of good info from everyone else.
Sorry, seems if my experiance was a little different. We received OBC credit for a price reduction on our stateroom. I thought that they would refund me the difference to my credit card or whatever. My PVP Gabrial, explained the previous scenario to me that way. Sort of like returning something w/o the receipt. You can exchange (services) for the dollar amount, but not expect cash refund. I have never walked away with a $0.00 S&S account. If you watch your account on tv you will notice that your charges come from any 'credit' first. But as others have posted, I guess that you can get the cash.
I don't think you get anything back if its from an incentive given you as OBC from a travel agent but I do know if the OBC is placed as cash or in the form of certificates you get your money back that is left unless they have changed it. Some people don't have credit cards or use them and place the OBC as a cash deposit. If they don't use the money they placed on there OBC account I doubt Carnival can just keep, it I would think they would have to return whats left back to the customer if not used.
