Default Stupidest Complaints you have heard

Given the recent (and escalating) man gets thrown off the Conquest story, I thought I would start a thread where we could provide people with the stupidest complaints they have witnessed on a cruise.

Mine was on the very last Caribbean cruise of the Smokefree Paradise - we were scheduled for an Eastern Caribbean itinerary, but a lady named Frances had other plans.

Instead of the Dominican Republic (no big loss) and St. Thomas (a favorite port of ours), we were diverted to Ocho Rios (no big gain) and Cozumel.

On more than one occasion, I witnessed men (it always seems to be a man complaining, to me) at the Purser's desk vociferously exclaiming that they had booked passage to St. Thomas and could not understand why they had to endure an itinerary change. I wanted to walk up and hit them upside the head with a two by four.

Later, I saw one of these people complaining to the Captain. I made it a point to interrupt him and thank the Captain, in front of the complainer, for thinking of the safety of the ship first and foremost. The complainer was not too happy with me, but I could care less.

Any stupid complaints are welcome.

We were on the Mariner OS during Hurricane Frances also! Our 7 day cruise ended up being 9 days because Frances hovered over Florida and there was too much damage to Port Canaveral to return there. First we were going to debark in Ft Lauderdale but there were too many other ships already there so we ended up debarking in Miami very early in the morning. On the evening of our "8th" day at sea, I overheard a lady at the Purser's desk complaining about being charged $10 for tips for the 2 extra days. It wasn't "her" fault we had a hurricane. I walked over to her and said "You're getting 2 extra days at sea for only $20 each". She looked at me deep in thought, turned to the person helping her and said "Nevermind. I don't know what I was thinking. So sorry." As she was walking away next to me she said "Thank you for the insight!" Those 2 extra days were a blast and the cruise staff did a wonderful job!

The only complaint I can remember had nothing to do with the ship, the staff, the food or the ports.

It was a guy who was with our group and complaining that his wife wouldn't stay in their cabin long enough to "BE WITH HIM" She was having way too much fun on the cruise and he was not having his personal needs fulfilled. He was not happy about it..

Overheard as we disembarked the Mariner of the Seas a year or so ago.
"I sure wish I could afford to eat in the main dining room. The buffet was O.K., but I got tired of it after a week. I don't know how people can afford to eat in the dining room all week long?" HUH?????????????

Okay Skymaster I feel bad for your person they were new to cruise and missed out on the great dining room food. I had a similar thing with some newbie cruisers they didn't want their picture taken because they were afraid they would be charged for the picture. I let them know that wasn't the case, they were really sweet people.
CA Cruiser great story sometimes you just need a little insight. I bet the Cruise staff was happy with you.

I was on the Paradise when it was still smoke free. After returning to the ship from Grand Cayman a gentlmen (and I use that term very loosely) upon going through security to get on the ship was found to have Cuban cigars. The officer wanted to hold them until we arrived back to Florida (stil not sure how he would have gotten them through customs). The man informed the officer that he wouldn't turn them over because he bought them to enjoy on his balcony in the evening after dinner. The officer kindly reminded him that he couldn't smoke on the SMOKE FREE ship. The man got VERY beligerent and ended up throwing the cigars in the ocean before proceeding to his room. The officer did take note of his antics and I overhead that he would be getting a fine for poluting the waters of Grand Cayman.

I got the is story secondhand from a couple at the table I dined at last September on the Triumph. A couple booked their cruise quite a ways in advace and must not have paid attention to any info sent to them about itinerary change. The couple booked a WESTERN Caribbean cruise on the Triumph for September, alas, in August of last year the route changed and the sailing we were on was going to do a Exotic Eastern Caribbean (HMC, St T, SJ, and Grand Turk). The couple never checked their cruise documents when they got them, never bothered to check the website, and they weren't informed of any changes from a TA, or PVP about the change. This couple was quite angry that they weren't going to Jamaica.

Uhm, it is customary to CHECK your cruise documents before you leave. They would have noted the change, but didn't.....

cutie:
I loved your statement of "Holy Junk".

I do agree with you about how could anyone book a cruise, wait for the cruise to happen and then be on a cruise and not know about the dinning rooms? Scary.

At the pool party..."I think the music is to loud".

In the buffet line on the Carnival Freedom... "I can't believe they are making us stand in line to get food"!

Michael, I donĀ“t think that "I think the music is to loud" is a stupid complain. In some cases, especially in the area around the pool, the music on the ships is way to loud.

I love to play rock music as loud as possible at home and I have been to a lots of concerts with high volume but nothing match the volume they sometimes have around the pool on a ship!

On the last day of a Transatlantic cruise where we sailed for 6 days without ports and then had several port days at the end, I overheard a lady complaining that they should have mixed the sea days in with the port days more so we wouldn't have had to sail for 6 days without stopping. Huh? I wonder where she thought we could stop.

Conquest a few years ago, small older man, cute as could be, sat down at the table next to ours in the Lido dining area. His Wife? asked why so long.
He said he had gone through all four buffet lines, but the food all looked the same to him. He would just go through one line next time.

On our 12 day cruise to Hawaii, we were somewhat aggravated with the older folk.
By the 9th day we had walked behind slower walkers, stepped out of the way of scooters and tripped over walkers. It has seemed to us that these wonderful cruisers were just not even trying to learn the ship or be kind to anyone ones else any more.

Well, my brother, who has a really good sense of humor, was on an elevator and the doors opened. There were about 4 to 6 "older" ones waiting to get on. They started to try to get into an already crowded space. He held out his hand and said, "Well this one is full, but there is one right behind us that you can get on!" After the doors closed, everyone in that elevator just lost it. We all laughted so hard thinking that they really beleived that there were more elevators following in a row. It sure lightened up the situation.
