Default Whats your cruising pet peeve?

We all have to deal with annoyances when we cruise. Chair hogs, long lines, unruly passengers are all part of the experience. What little thing bugs you about the whole thing? I dont want to sound mean or insensitive but it bugs me to see overweight people just gourging themselves at the buffet. It is none of my business of course but the sight of it makes me shake my head.

Pool games are pretty stupid too. A lot of people do them but they are so ridiculous. And turn down the amp!! People can hear the noise back on land!!

What are your peeves?

You sound like both of what you don't mean to sound like. What a negative topic. Hope your next cruise is not mine.

YIKES

Those last 2 were kinda mean. For a minute I thought that maybe you were friends and just joking. Then I read your last one cruzin and I think you were offended.

All I was going to add is that my problem is that..... you wait and wait for the cruise to get here and then it's over in a FLASH

I love everything about crusing...so far. I will let you know after this one.

My pet peeve is having to get off the ship when we get back to port. Well, also if ALL the ice cream machines were broke to whole trip.

I agree with you. The broken ice cream machine can cause a real issue!

I must admit my pet peeve while cruising is the extraordinary amount of time people take putting together a salad, they have to choose the perfect lettuce pieces, ripest tomatos, greenest olives, four croutons, maybe five, and drown everything in the perfectly ladled salad dressing.

To all you salad lovers, don't slam me, this is my personal opinion, just be aware that there are lots of people behind you that are just waiting to get to the hot food items.

I have tried jumping the line and have been met with icy stares or downright obnoxious insults.

I hadn't really thought of the "salad bar" thing, but I too have to agree with that one, and you're correct. If you try to go around them while they spend 10 minutes selecting just the right amount of lettuce, they give you a look that could kill!
The only other thing that really annoys me, is the volume of the music? around the main pool. Don't get me wrong,,,,no one loves music more than I do, but do you really have to make the chairs and tables jump up and down with the beat? I truly love island music, and I'm about half deaf from flying aircraft with big round engines and no mufflers, but it's simply more than I can stand sometimes.

I wish they would move the salad part to the end and let the hot dishes be first. I don't eat salad with every meal and having to wait behind a "making the perfect" sald person, or any salad person, is annoying.

It irks me that I have to get off the ship at the end of the cruise so darn early to catch a flight. One day I will have to book a one or two night stay and then fly home early instead of mid day.

One other peeve--mechanical breakdown-The gangway on the Conquest didn't want to extend when we were debarking. Everyone had to go down to 0 zeck and get off at ground level. You are saving, that's cool, well, it is if you have a small carry that is light. No, I had to have a small rolling carry on packed as tight as possible. I can tell you it wasn't pleasant dragging it down the stairs. I tried to carry it, but it was heavy. Yes, I could have waited for an elevator, but since the elevators were taking forever, it was faster to walk down the stairs than wait 10-20 minutes for an elevator that had room for all of us!!!!!

Wow, ya, that salad bar thingy! Me too gang! Getting the right tomato, or cucumber is not the wisest choice, when the line behind you is tapping their foot, mentally:) I am one of them:)

My biggest peeve is finishing a cruise and realizing I dont have another booked. Ya'll seem to pay to much time worring about the little stuff. Been on 32 cruises and my worst day on a cruise beats my best day at work HANDS DOWN!!!!!!

I think the first two comments are very mean.
Everyone goes on a cruise to have fun and the stupid
pool games are fun.
As far as what other people look like no one should be
throwing any stones.. I am sure there is no perfect person
out there and if so they should take another look in the
mirror.
I have never had any peeves that I had to let it upset my
vacation.
There are chair hogs at the pool but as it goes empty for
a hour and then its open in my book. Then I will be using
it. So that does not upset me either.
Have to get passed all the little things..
I do agree with the salad group lol
Just be happy and thrilled you can take a vacation...

Be Happy

Like kroozer said any day on a cruise is better than working..

I can't believe people are willing to pay those roaming charges! I called a co-worker on her cell once and we were 5 minutes into the conversation when she said "Oh, I'm on a cruise..." I had no idea

Light hearted: the dreaded packing and the lesson learned last cruise - don't ever shop the night before for a necessity. I found a great pair of shoes for my formal. The only problem, the sample ended up in my box so I had two LEFTs.... lucky me someone else I was cruising with was the same shoe size!

Not light hearted: PEOPLE - please treat your little ones with respect and don't curse at them. I felt so bad for a little girl my first cruise. Her very young grammy gave her such a hard time. The grammy should have had her mouth washed out with soap. Remember there are people around you who will talk about your lack of manners the entire cruise.

Formal Wear: Don't just look at yourself from the front, look at yourself from the back too... splurge and buy the proper undergarments. I couldn't believe it last May - two very deep Louisianians on their very first cruise... very pretty with beautiful formals with white bra straps showing...
I didn't know if I should say something or not...

Guys: Being healthy isn't just for women... it's a guy thing too. We live in a world today where everyone knows that if you lose 10% of your body weight, you will live longer and drop a size or two in the process...My own best incentive photo was a beach shot my mother took of me with my family seven years ago. Thank goodness I was already signed up for the WW at Work program and I've kept the weight off (I'm female).

Cut-offs and t-shirts with sleeves cut out.... leave them at home.

If you're a woman, dress like a woman so that we know you are a woman! When you cruise, it's a great time to reinvent yourself clothing wise....Pull out that makeup case; a little blush, mascara and lipstick go a long way! Lose the fanny packs! Get a cute backpack from Target or someplace or carry a wristlet. The only people that have a valid reason to carry a fanny or hippack are trainers for sports teams or ems workers...

Light-hearted - the cutie pie kids at the talent shows and all dressed up on formal night - there is nothing sweeter than seeing little girls and boys dressed up. Even pre-teens who may never have dressed up before...

Serious one: If you're married and I've said this before, a cruise is not a time to have a fling or get sloppy drunk and this goes for men and women...

Another serious one for newbies... if you're an AA or NA member, there ARE shipboard meetings... Friends of Bill.... I never knew what this was until I asked someone about the Capers entry....

I could go on and on but I won't...have a lot of fun...

WOW, I'll bet you think "Larry the Cable Guy" is not properly dressed for formal night!

Okay, I don't really have any pet peeves yet, since I've only been on one cruise (so far) however...
On the one cruise, the thing that really bothered me was the wait time for an elevator.
I'm physically challenged (but currently working on that) and it's hard for me do the stairs.
I wonder... are all elevators on cruise ships slow or did I just get unlucky?

They are ALL slow. That's why we hardly ever take the elevator.

IMO the elevators on the "Spirit" class ships aren't nearly as slow, or as crowded as the "Conquest" class. The "Fantasy" class kind of fall in the middle as far as wait, and speed go. Maybe it's just my imagination, or perhaps "luck" but that's my opinion..

No luck involved here. It seems like all the elevators are that way. If I can do it, I will walk...and not even bother.

Don't cruise with me then. My big butt plans to head to the buffet in 11 days. 8) My pet peeves are have to wait 11 more days and worrying about missing the plane to get to my cruise ship. Once I'm on board everything will be great.
