Class of Ships

I know this will probably be the easiest/dumbest question but what exactly IS the difference in the classes of the ships. Fantasy, Conquest, Holiday, Splendor, etc.

Size, tonnage, activities, length of cruise, amount of passengers, destinations.

Thats most of the reasons in my opinion.
