I have a question about self assist leaving the ship. Are the elevators running in the morning so we can use them to leave the ship. We have a very early flight home and thought it would be easier if we take our luggage with us. Please help soon. We leave for Orlando on Friday early in morn. Thanks ahead of time.
Yes the elevators will be running that morning but it likely will be very crowded and depending on the time it is sometimes not easy to use them. There will be hundreds of other people also trying to be first off the ship.

We have a somewhat early flight and we have to get to the Fort Lauderdale Airport. If we go to the Purser the night before and show our flight tickets, I understand that we can get a special tag for our luggage and get off the ship quicker.
Is this correct?
Yes Darlene, when you get your luggage tags for debarkation, go directly to the purser with early flight tickets in hand, and they will issue you tags to get you off the vessel earlier. (probably right after the self debarkation and handicapped folks) The other group that gets these "early tags" are the platinum people, and those in the suites.

If we get these tags, wouldn't we be considered "Self Debarkation"???
We did this in Galveston, due to an early flight. We had two large bags. plus the carry-ons, which we tried to piggy back...and I have to say, in this location it was a killer for us. I had to do this ony due to the return flight back to Boston.
There were not many choices, so we needed to get off the ship for the long ride back to Houston. I never needed to do this for our Florida flights, thankfully.

What I am asking here is...if we go to the Purser and show that we have a flight before 12:00...can we still have our luggage be taken the night before and still get off the ship early without doing a self debarkation?
Or will we have to wait for our deck to be called like the rest of the passangers?
This is the way it has worked for us the last several times. Some ships may do it differently.
If you go to the Pursers Desk with an early flight they will give you a numeric tag to put on your baggage before you put it outside the night before. They will swap your number 28 for a number 1 or 2. They no longer call by deck but by number. After all the self debark people are off (no tag required) they will then start calling the numbers.
If you do self-debark be prepared for a zoo. Don't count on the elevators. Many times Carnival does not control it well. Even when Carnival tries to do it in an organized manner people will not follow the rules and you have 1000 people in the halls and stairwells with baggage all trying to be the first one off the ship.

Thank you for that information....
We have a few people with heart problems and if we can put our luggage out the night before and we can get an early OK to leave the ship (Valor), without us dragging around our own luggage, that would be fantastic
