Default My big luggage piece weighs like 5000 lbs

I feel sorry for the porter who lifts my bag it always weighs so much going on the cruise and coming back it lightens up due to the case of water, wine and soda being drank on the trip. Gonna have to tip the dude well to lift this one on Sat.

if it weighs more than 50 lbs. you'll have to pay the airline as well...and not as a tip. there's an astronomical fee for going over...(sometimes they allow you to go a little bit, but not much)

If you have a scale at home, put it on it.

Like the above poster said, if it weighs over 50 pounds, the airline is going to hammer you for the extra weight.

Ditch half your clothes in your suitcase, you can always have them wash it on the ship.

Cutiecat & Cassandra I am pretty sure he will be driving. If my memory serves me correct (on Ro's location underneath his name) he is just outside of Clearwater. Ro has the perfect ability to (as zydecocruiser calls it) "Lock 'n Load" his luggage.

What are we going to "Lock'n Load" our luggage with?

For those unfamiliar with "Lock 'n Load" see the thread Rules for Booze. It is now on the second page.

Going to drag the suitcase to the SUV and drive 2 hours to the Port. Once the wine, water and soda is out of the bag it will only have the usual amount of clothes for the 7 days. I'll let you all know how the cruise went when we come back next Sat.

You won't have any problem Ro. Just find a porter with lots of muscles, and give him a little bit of an extra tip when you drop the luggage. The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) always has an extra heavy bag when we sail as well, so I know how this works.
Hope you have a GREAT cruise. We'll be sailing "Glory" in about a month, and I'm ready to "rock-n-roll".

Lighten your bag a bit by leaving our the water. The water on the ship is distilled and is equal to or better than the bottled water.

Ro, hope you all have a wonderful cruise! Those porters at Port of Tampa are top notch and waste no time getting everyone where they need to be.

2 tons??? That's a lot of alcohol. Medicinal purposes?

This past February when we got off the Conquest and my bags were heavy. The two suitcases weighed 70lbs!!!! I wasn't charged for heavier bags because my mom and niece had bags that were less than the limit. Thankfully, my Mom and Niece came in handy as well when it came to clearing customs. I spent $1800+ and together they spent around $300-400 total. I had a nice agent and they aded the total up and said no duty was due, so I saved a few bucks and stached the money for the next cruise!!!!

Several years back, we had one bag that weighed in at 90 pounds!!!!
They told us we would have to pay, and I was ready to, but that meant the man had to take the bag inside, & I guess he didn't want to, so he sent us through. This was before the more rigid rules . Also one time we had a HEAVY sticker stick on a bag....Now we pay much closer attention to the regs, and pack more carefully.
