Default Beach towels from the ship for excursions

On our other cruises, we would get the blue beach towels from the Cabin Steward to use while on excursions . When we would return, there was a bin as we walked onto the ship to throw wet towels in. Is this still the same? Or do we have to give them back to the Cabin Steward?

I think I read that if there towels aren't returned, it will cost you $21.00?

Is this correct?

Darlene

You have to return them to your cabin now. Too many people thought that a beach towel might make a fun souvenir...or who simply forgot and left it on a beach somewhere. Now, the cabin stewards are responsible for getting them back from you.

Thank you so much for the information.

Things have changed a little.

Marty is correct in both instances. In fact I have a very nice Carnival towel that was left on the beach at Playa Bonita on Cozumel 15 years ago. I had the towel years before I ever sailed on a CCL ship.

Yes things have changed.

So does the towel have the Carnival Logo on it, or the name?? If so, It wouldn't be a bad souvenier for $22. 8)

They used to be a drab blue. I doubt that they have the logo on them. I haven't read anywhere on any of these threads that they do.

They would be nice if they did, I agree with you ferrangi

They are blue...and they do have Carnival embroidered on the edge. You can take them off the boat for excursions...but return with them to your room or you'll have a $22 charge. If you do want to keep one...let your cabin steward know and they'll give you a brand new one rather than the one that has been washed and used and re-used. We had brought our own towels with us...won't do that again! The carnival towels are very nice.

Thanks Kat:
Now I know about the towels. The ones I remember were not embroidered, so these seem very nice.
I will let my group know not to let the towels on the beaches. Do you have the same situation for the towels that you use on the decks on the ship and the pools?

Kat:

You might be refering to the good old days when they had a pile of big fluffy but plain towels on deck for sunbathing and a hamper to return the dirty ones.

Darlene:

Yes I believe its the same situation as far as I can tell. The cabin steward will have you charged if they do not find the towels in the room when you disembark.

Do you have to sign for them or is it just that the Cabin Stewart keeps track of how many you take with you to the deck?

I guess you could keep using the same beach towel?

Because we travel with kids who could care less about US having to pay $22 for a towel that they forgot or loaned out to a new friend (and I hated spending the entire excursion doing 'towel check'), we pack some $3 cheapie ones from Walgreens.

Uh not sure how they keep track My guess is they leave a certain number of towels pp at the begining & count at the end.

Kat:

That $3/towel is a good idea for kids
