Default Excursion Questions

We are booked on the Conquest for Feb. 1st 09. The ports are Ocho Rios, Gand Cayman and Cozumel. Been to Cozumel before so no questions there. Looking for tips in Jamaca, and Grand Cayman.
We are not beach people. We are in our late 50's and my DW can not walk very far very fast. She can walk distances if not rushed. Would like to see Dunns River Falls, but beyond that not really a clue as what to do. Could use some suggestions from those with experience at these ports.
Thanks
Gary

When we were on the Conquest, we docked at Montego Bay. We did the Grand Canopy Tour (ziplining) and it was fantastic. On a previous trip we did the Rose Hall Beach thing. Everyone had a great time there as well.

Grand Cayman....on our first trip we did Stingray City. It's a once in a lifetime thing, so the next time we did the Seatrek excursion and had a BLAST...I'm ready to be certified to dive!

We managed to hit Margaritaville in both locations. Shopping, beach and Carlos and Charlies in Cozumel.

I have grandchildren, so don't be afraid to try new things!

In the Cayman's we went to a small beach and snorkeled. crystal clear water. Then we walked to the shops. In Ocho rios it is a little different. I would recommend a ship sponsored excursion. We toured the botanical gardens then went to Dunns River Falls. On the ship's excursion, everyone held hands and helped each other up the falls. we took short breaks when needed and the water was great. I am a big man and on one particular part of the climb, I had two gentlemen help me up a steep part of the climb. I could have taken the easier route but I guess it's a man thing. Be careful and don't stray from the excursion, for safety's sake.

Gary
From what you described climbing Dunn's River Falls is not something your wife would want to do. There are however stairs that go down the hillside right beside the Falls with several vantage points for viewing the Falls and people who are climbing. Many people choose to do that. As for Grand Cayman there are plenty of taxis to take you to the beach. Seems like it was about $5 per person. Stingray City tour everyone should do once. Lots of fun. Available from the ship or private tours. You can get in the water with the Rays or stay on the boat and watch.

Thanks all.
I like the idea of walking beside the falls. I really want to see it. So does my DW. I still have a lot of time to figure it out.
Again thanks to you all for the info.

Gary,
Conquest typically docks in Montego Bay, Jamaica not Ocho Rios...you may want to double check your itinerary.

Dunn's River Falls can be done from either port but it's a much longer bus ride to the falls from Montego Bay (I think approximately 2 hours). That is why we did not do it when on Conquest. I figured we'd wait to go to the falls when we port in Ocho Rios on a future cruise - God willing!

Oops Bad brain cramp.
Don't know why I was saying Ocho Rios. I knew it was Montego Bay. Just not thinking clearly all of the time. Thanks For The Point
Of Fact.
