Default Ocean Players Club question

I am so confident that someone will know how to answer this:

A few of us joined on the web site for Carnival's Ocean Players Club for the casino. We have heard some things on other boards that people have received because of joining. Perks I guess you could call them. A few said they received chocolate covered strawberries and a cert. for a photo. Others said they didn't receive anything. I'm not sure if it was the ship they were on or for another reason?

I think that the more you play the games in the casino, the more "points" you can rack up on your card, as in other casinos.

Does anyone know anything or more about this club?

Thank you,
Darlene

My experience with the Ocean Players Club has been that on some ships you might get a small perk (last time it was a free beer on the Destiny) and many times nothing. One Thousand points on your card earns you $10. Unless you are playing huge amounts of money don't expect much from the Ocean Players Club.

Thanks, I just read many other boards and they were different. I guess Carnival is saving money anyway they can now with these fuel prices going through the roof?

Darlene,
Also, the first day on ship, go to the casino and get them to punch your Sail and Sign card, attach a bungee to it.
On our January cruise, it was VERY difficult to get anyone to do that after the first day. The casino crew workers kept saying it was something they do only on the first day, but would eventually do it grudgingly.

Does getting the card punched get you any special perks? We were going to bring a hole puncher for that. One of our group members had the idea.

No, getting punched doesn't get you anything but a spiffy colored bungee cord. lol I like having the card on a cord tho, and that's where you get them.

I think that's what I'll do too. Get it punched and a bungee cord since I DO plan on spending some quality time in the casino.

That is what all of us who joined are going to do....some of us have landyards already, but we want the ones from Carnival that probably have Carnivals name on it. Keepsakes

Darlene,

About the Ocean Player's Club...in order to eligible for the perks you do have to register at the OPC website. The perks you receive are based on the points you earn in a 24-month period of cruising. They have four different levels of membership based on the number of points you earn using your OPC card. These points will get you little perks, special offers, and cash back during your cruise. Some of the perks we have received are a fruit basket, chocolate covered strawberries, our cabin decorated (Bon Voyage), free photo coupons, a certain dollar amount in chips, extra points added to our players card, golf-type Ocean Player's Club logo shirts, Ocean Player's Club T-Shirts, tote bags, key chains, Ocean Player hat, cards, and free drinks. I usually go to their website and register about 2 weeks before our cruise leaves. Usually, on the first day of the cruise, there will be a letters from the OPC sent to our cabin telling us to bring our letters in and meet the casino host to receive our free points, chips, etc.

We just returned from a back-to-back 16-day cruise on the Carnival Miracle. On that cruise, we got a fruit basket, a choice of extra points or cash added to our players cards, tote bag full of shirts, key rings, hat, etc., plus the casino hosts bought us about 16 drinks during our 16 day cruise. In addition, we both got back the normal $10 cash back every time we earned 1000 points on our player's card during the cruise. The casino hosts were very nice on the Miracle. We got to know three of them during our cruise, and they made every day a lot of fun for us. I assume the perks we got back were based on the points we had from cruises during the previous 24-month period. In our case, we have taken 5 cruises during the last year. It seems like the year before, we took only 1 for sure, maybe 2. We will enjoy the casino even if we don't get the little perks.

For some reason a lot of people are afraid to use their Sail and Sign card to track their points. Also, there is no charge to you for using the Sail & Sign card as your personal bank in the casino. I normally start out the first day by putting $100 in the machine. If I decide that machine is not paying, then I can cash out quickly by uploading the balance of my $100 to the Sail & Sign card. Then when I get to the next machine, I just download the amount of money I want to play. To do this, you assign yourself a pass code, and punch in at each machine to download or upload your cash. There will be no record of this at all on your Sail and Sign card bill because you are using your own money. There is absolutely no charge for doing this. To me, it is easier than cashing out a lot of coins you have to carry around. Also, in many cases there are not enough coins in the machine to pay out the amount, so people have to wait until the casino hosts come and either put in more coins or write up a ticket that you take to the cashier.

Also, punching the Sail & Sign card just makes it easier to keep up with it when putting it in the machine to track your points. Usually, with the lanyard attached it is easier to remember to grab it when you leave the machine. We have never had a problem getting it punched. The Purser's Office will also punch the cards for you. People that don't use it the casino will also get it punched so they can put it on a lanyard to keep up with it during the cruise.

I hope you have a great time on your cruise. It sounds like fun. I am so ready to go again. I am definitely suffering from Post Cruise Depression. The only one we have booked for now is February which seems like forever! I am going to Las Vegas for a week at the end of this month so maybe that will help, but it is just not the same as a cruise.

Bon Voyage

Sherrie

Sherrie:
Thank you for all of the information.
With all of us being first time members and we all just joined last month, it looks like we will just be getting a big welcome and no perks this time.

We are all big time casino players though, so we may "rack" up some points this cruise.

If nothing else, we will get the landyards from the Casino

Darlene, you're my kinda person..... I bet I've have a blast going on a cruise with you.....
You ask all the right questions, and now, I'm going to sign my sister and I up for the OPC.
After all, we have quite a collection of bungees and casino cards from all the indian casinos here in Ca.
What's one more, and hey, you never know when you might be eligble for a perk.

Most of gamblers answers were for people playing the slots. I have been an OPC player for about 15 cruises. If you are only going to play slots go along with what has been written by gambler but, if you play cards, in order to be what they call rated you have to play a minimum of 25$ per hand. I have been comped pretty much what gambler said. polo shirts, t shirts hats cards etc. I have also gotten chips waiting in the casino for the next cruise. Like Im leaving on June 22 on the Triumph and I have 500$ waiting for me. Depending on your rating pts you can get free drinks here and there....in the casino, while your playing.....the pit boss will get you a drink if you are antiing at least 25$. I have heard alot of people ask why I recieve drinks and they didnt. If at the end of your cruise you have built up some pts they will give you some gifts on the last night. I will tell you I usually anti 50-100$ per hand and its a high price to pay for a polo shirt, unless your winning. I hit a royal flush on Carribbean Stud in 2005 on the Triumph and won 67,000. After that cruise I called the casino HQ's and what they told me was...If you lose 5000 or more or win 5000 or more they will give you10% of your winnings or losses off the price of your next cruise. Which they did. They also had champagne in my room. I hope I answered your questions

I get the strawberries, the photo coupon, a welcome aboard letter with an offer for a free drink and a $5 chip.

Depending on play, I may get showered with assorted, pretty much useless crap.

Go ahead and fill out the sailing again form:
http://www.oceanplayersclub.com/ContactUs.aspx?CatID=1

For membership number fill in 0s or 9s (I think it is 8, but whatever makes it happy).

You should receive and email back acknowledging.

It can't hurt and you can ein if you don't play!

We just returned from a B2B on the Imagination and it was the 1st time we've only received the letter in our cabin (to see the casino host the 1st night for a free drink and 500 points on my card). Usually we receive a fruit basket with wine or champagne, photo coupons, Choc. covered strawberries, bottles of water, etc. In the 13 cruises I've taken in less than 2 years I've racked up well over 25,000 points on my card and have gotten anywhere from $50 to $125 per cruise casino credit. I'm not sure if the lack of gifts in the cabin is something new or just a bad casino host...I wasn't too impressed with the host on the Imagination

I just received a postcard from the Carnival Players Club. They have switched it from Ocean Players Club. For giving them my e-mail, I get $50.00 when I go on my next cruise. All I have to do is bring them the paper I printed out.

Just got back from a trip on the Elation and carried the Carnival Players Club postcard and printed coupon. They gave my wife and I $50 each in cash. Also each of us had the standard letter waiting on the ship for 500 points and a free drink. 8)

I play the slots and I always put my card in the machine when I play. You start with 1000 points and when you get down to 0 points you get a $10 credit for playing 1000 points. I think I got $50 in free slot time with the point system.....
