Default St Thomas Excursions

We will be on the Valor the first week of June. We have pretty much made decissions on what we'd like to do at Nassau and St Maarten. Anyone have any great suggestions for St. Thomas? Even it's just beach time and local shopping, what do you recommend?
We enjoy everthing, from watching the waves roll in to extreme sports and activities. So really nothing at either end of the spectrum is off limits for us.

Default St. Thomas Excursion

My husband and I cruised on the Valor in April 2007. We had a wonderful time because it was our first time going to the Eastern Caribbean. In St. Thomas the shore excursion we did was Snuba. It is part scuba diving and part snorkeling. You want to book it ahead of time, we waited to long and almost didn't get to do it. You can go to Carnivals website to view the details of Snuba. You can register online with Carnival and enter your reservation number, that will allow you to see how much each excursion will cost and you can book your excursions online. Hope you have a great time. If you have any questions let us know.

St. Thomas is one of my favorite cruise ports having been there at least 10 times. I highly recommend taking one of the hundreds of taxis for an island tour. The drivers will be waiting for you as you depart the ship. We were there in Feb. and the rate was $20 per person which was not out of the question for what we requested. The driver gave us a tour which took us to the Mountain Top ( a must for me) where we enjoyed the views and of course the famous Banana Daquris! From there a ride down the mountain into town where we were dropped off for about 2 hours of shopping. I have a jewlery store that is a must stop for me. After spending all my shopping funds the driver picked us up for the ride back to the pier. You can see as much or as little of the island as you want with the taxi drivers. Most are very good, we've never had a bad one, and the tours are very informative. They will also take you to any of the beach areas and then pick you up at your specified time. Just make sure not to pay until you are dropped back at the pier.

Default St Thomas

My wife and i have been there on several cruises, there is shopping right at the pier, and a market a short cab ride away. One of the things we
enjoy is the sky lift to the top of the hill,a great view of the port and surrounding areas. There are shops up there, and rest rooms. You can walk to it from the ship!!!!

We just came back last Saturday from the Glory. We had a ball on the Sonny Liston Tour. In fact we didn't want to get off the bus. Sonny's wife was the driver on our bus and could she make it rock with tons of fun. We were singing and dancing in our seats. The music was awesome and it showed on the smiles from all the people on the van. I booked it online and paid with it by using Paypal. It cost us only $25.00 each for shopping, sight seeing and 2 hours at the Sapphire beach. They took us all over even to Mountain Top where we had more shopping time and a Banana Rum Drink. We loved it so much. We would do it all over again that is how much fun we had. Look up Sonny Liston Tours St Thomas and it shows you where the tours go. Sonny answered all my questions and emails in a fast timely fashion also. Sonny drives the first bus, along with his wife in another and employee named Elvis has the third open aired bus. Couldn't beat it for the price they charged. All the other open air buses were staring at us and when we got off at the end some of the people came up to us and said they had wished they were on Sonnys van tour. All we can say is it was FUN FUN FUN.......

Thanks for the replies. This will also be our first time to the Eastern Carribean. We've been to the western side the last three times so we were ready for a change.
We got our documents yesterday and are ready to go!!

Last year I did the Castaway Girl Catamaran snorkel tour through the excursion desk, and they are AMAZING. We had a blast.

This year we just went to Sapphire Beach via taxi. It was beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves.

Hope you have a good time no matter what you choose...St. Thomas is gorgeous.

And the Valor is the best ship ever!

(BTW, if you get the chance in St. Maarten to tour both sides of the island I recommend it. It's really cool.)

Sonny Liston tours are great fun ! If you are a real beach person try Trunk Bay on St. John a short cab and ferry ride away. Or on St. Thomas Magens Bay and a trip to the top of the hills overlooking the harbor.

Welcome to the boards Rubina..there is a wealth of knowledge on here.
In Nassau we have already booked the Blackbeards Cay stingray excursion thru Carnival (that may not be the exact name listed on the Carnival website).

At St Maarten we plan to see the island (both sides) and do some shopping. Hopefully we get in some beach time there as well.

One of the other couples going with us has booked the jeep tour at St Thomas. We're still not sure what we will do there. The Sonny Liston tour sounds pretty good to me and my wife liked the catamaran idea.

Thanks again everyone for your great suggestions.

When I checked the excursion list on Friday, I discoved that Carnival had posted more excursions for St Maarten. The horseback ride caught my daughters attention. Before that, we had planned to check out the island ourselves. We still undecided at this point.
The Carnival excursions will usually cost more than finding them on your own. In the past, we have booked our own outside of Carnival and had very good luck with it. But when we have done that, it was our second or third time visiting that port and we had a good sense of security in our decission. For first time cruisers or even our first visit to a new port, we prefer to stick to the ships excursions. The few extra dollars are worth the sense of security.
I've seen on these boards that most people recomend first timers to stick to the ships offerings. I've followed that advice and seen the reasons why it was suggested.

Sunny Liston is a must! I have never had so much fun. On our tour, there were 20 yr olds to 60 year olds and everyone had a blast. We also had many people staring at us and wishing they were on our tour. We videotaped the whole tour and still talk about it. It's cheap and when he dropped people off at the beach there were only 4 out of 25 people that wanted to go to one beach and the rest to another. He didn't even care. Sunny's laugh is great! And you'll need that Banana Daiquiri on the way down!!! hahahaha
