Default Transportation to Miami Port....

I arrive at Fort lauferdale @12.30pm and my cruise from Miami Port is @4pm. Anyone suggest what transportation should I take? We are two of us. If we take the Carnival shuttle it costs us $96 round trip. Isn't that too much? Anyone has any idea what else should I take to reach on time with a better fare?

Is this per person or total for both of you.

Per person--it is high. If it is for both of you, it is within reason.

Rental car is $57. each way, taxi is +/- $70. each way.

You could research the city bus/transportation system, but you have to schlep your luggage on/off the bus or train.

The shuttle from just outside the baggage claim at FFL costs less than $20 to Port of Miami.

Floridalimo (GoExpress) only does the shared ride to the port from FLL airport. They only have a limo service from the port back to the airport. We used Floridalimo going to the port and EEZZExpress limo from port back to the airport. It was $50 for the 2 of us plus 15% gratuity (and if you have an AARP card you save the $8 tip). So, $50 was pretty cheap compared to the other alternatives!

Not to cause you stress, but arriving at 12:30 for a 4:00 cruise is really pushing it especially with traveling from FLL to Miami. It's nothing for flights to be running a couple hours behind these days.

Go for it if you have no other option. I realize folks can't always fly in the day before. But if you can't do that, I would look into an earlier flight..Just one person's suggestion.

Default FLL to Mia

We also flew into FLL and arrived around 12:30pm. Because of this we opted to take the CCL transfers. We checked in with them at the airport, waited about 20 minutes then proceded to the bus they had waiting for us. We were at the port about 2pm. It was one less thing to worry about. Enjoy your cruise

Default Transfers

We just did the same thing back in February without a hitch. With Carnival you don't even have to have an advance reservation on the transfer. Just walk up, tell them your name and ask to borrow their stapler to put your tags on your bags. They're all quite friendly until you get to the bus. If you get the same bus driver as us, then he won't let you off the bus until you've seen his show of back breaking, brow seating labor that he has to go through to move your bags from the curb to the bus and then back to the curb again along with his story of how he's never seen so much luggage for such a short trip. The whole trip can be charged to your sign and sail account.
My only suggestion would be to find something to do after the cruise before you get to the airport. We had a mid afternoon departure from FLL. The airlines won't take your luggage until two hours prior to departure and the terminal doesn't have enough room for everyone to just hang around and all of the restaurants are on the secure side of the terminal. Kind of an architectural mistake if you ask me.
Final note, get the insurance from a company that actually pays your expenses (rather than giving vouchers) like access America, then if by chance you do miss your connection, you should be taken care of to eventually get on the ship.
Cheers!

Whatever you do, it will probably be cheaper than parking your car at the Port of Miami at 20.00 per day. Good Luck!

Thanks subtropic..
Hope the price is still the same. Did you have to wait long for the shuttle?

We arrived in Miami at 1pm and got to the ship in plenty of time using the Carnival shuttle.

We will beon The Valor Jan 09. Does it matter which airport we fly into, Fort Lauderdale or Miami. I have never sailed out of the port of Miami so new to us. We will be flying from Michigan. Would like to fly the morning e sail. There will be 4 of us, which is the best and cheapest way to go, Carnival or taxi or should we rent a car???? Help??? Thanks, Lynn

Default Fort Lauderdale vs Miami Airport

We flew in to Fort Lauderdal for a cruise out of Miami. This decision was based primarily on the greater number of flights available and more flexibility for me through FLL compared to MIA. Pricing seemed to be a little bit cheaper out of FLL, but that was negated by the slight increase in expense of the Carnival Shuttle bus.

Does anyone know after return my rental car to the FLL airport where I will be renting it and then catch the Carnival shuttle to the ship? I am flying in 2 days before and am trying to work out my rental car piece and how to get to Port of Miami.
