Hello Cruise Mates... a good friend and I just booked on the Carnival Splendor... So excited the ship hasn't even sailed yet. I think it has it inagural saling this summer. We are going in April. Infact we will be on the ship for my birthday. So excited. We got a good rate on a balcony cabin with the military rate. I would ask if anyone knows anything about the Splendor but since it hasn't sailed yet .. hum. but if anyone sails her this summer please let me know how you found the ship.
Hugs,
Carol

Miss Carol....
How wonderful for you. I was so surprised when I saw your posting... I couldn't be happier for you...
And how neat to be on a brand new ship.... although I feel a little more comfortable with a ship that's a little broken in...
But then again... someone has to break it in...
Our cruise is coming soon, well it's still a little more than 100 days, but still we booked it last october...
ok just cheked on carnival website, looks like the splendor is the first of the "splendor" class. They also have virtual tours too. They have updated there site... I like it alot better now.
Hey Tammy,
I'll check out the site. That video sounds good. Hug :-)

I am booked on the 12/6 sailing and I will have an album of pictures too when I get back. I can't wait to experience the Splendor, it will be my 10th Carnival cruise! WOOHOOO!
We sail on her in November on her initial US cruise.
Are you staying on for the 4 day that follows the 2 day???
(please say yes, please say yes!!!)
If so, we will be sailing with you!!!

Me ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale)
20 year old son ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale...he is the only DOUBLE Milestone under the age of 21)
24 year old son ... DIAMOND
I am changing my cruising plans. Flights are so out of hand now that I am cancelling the Splendor and changing to the Ecstasy. I am saving about $800.00 this way.

OK...now I am officially sad!!!
I thought we were going to get to cruise together.
We are sailing on the Ecstasy on Sept 1st. This will be our first time out of Galveston. We are going to drive in 2 days early to do Schlitterbaun.
Sorry you had to cancel your Splendor. I am not big into flying. I will do it if I have to, but I much prefer to drive. We are actually driving to the FLL in November which will be about 16 hours or so...

Oh no... I was looking forward to hearing all about the new ship from a cruisemate. But I totally understand. Enjoy your new cruise.

I will be on the first 3 sailings of Carnival Splendor.
Splendor was actually supposed to be a Costa ship and is based on the Conquest class, but slightly larger with a few new tricks. There is a sister Costa ship or 2 out there.
Cruises are paid for and air is on frequent flier into Rome and out of London. The main potential gotcha is that I'm flying on my own from Rome to Genoa on Alitalia - hopefully they will still be flying July 1st. Worst case, I'll have my GPS and can do a one way car rental from Rome to Genoa!

Lucky Ducky... Please remember to journal every detail about the ship. Can't wait to hear it all.

Driving in Italy is pretty easy. We drove from Rome to Tuscany and from Milan to Tuscany on the Autostrada. The Fuimucino airport in Rome is not near the city but on the highway, anyway
Michael: I've seen many posts by you and I know the airfare feeling. We skipped our timeshare in Cabo this year so that we could cruise and then go back next winter to Cabo. It looks like we're going to select our week and then exchange it for something that has a less expensive airfare flying from the east coast....cruise or whatever. I'm wondering if I'll be able to afford anything at all. I'm already putting money away for next winter's heating bill....

Yes, it really is hard to get to point A from point B if you have to fly. About the heating fuel for next year... I have purchased shares in natural gas and other energy sources and I know it will be high through the year.
