Default Great New packing idea

This is an idea I've never seen posted anywhere before. A co-worker of mine suggested this idea. For those who don't take it serious, maybe your you'll get a laugh out of it. The more I laughed at it, the more serious I took it and may even try it on my next cruise.
Thru the year, instead of throwing away those pairs of underwear that have out lived their life expectancy (you know which ones they are), save them for your next trip. Then, after you wear them one last time, just throw them away. That way you have less dirty laundry and create more space to bring back all those new beach t-shirts!!
You could apply this idea to socks and t-shirts as well.

I see your point, but if I ever did this, my suitcase would be the one that was searched at checkin by customs and would also be the one that falls open with all my raggedy undies on display.

Okay, so if you are worried about being married, you probably wouldn't have the throw-away undies in the first place, right?

I actually thinks a great idea... there's been many times when I'd put them back in my drawer, you know for those long weekends when you just didn't feel like doing laundry. I call those my emergency pair.

Another plus for this idea....if you only throw away your undies when you cruise, then you have to cruise at least once or twice a year. That should make the top 10 reasons to take a cruise!!

We have used this idea before and it works. It really didn't free up a lot of room but the wash load on our return was less.

I too have done this for years. I also leave that worn pair of tennis shoes.

I guess I'm opposite of many, I wear my nicer things at home and the older/grungy things on vacation (then dispose as suggested). Not out to impress anyone. Always try to look nice and proper on a trip though. I do get embarrassed when I see one of those 'american tourists' improperly dressed for the area they are visiting.

I just went last night since I am leaving next Thurs. (5/29)

meercatmom...I think my shares your idea. She went last night and bought all new under "stuff" from V.S. for our upcoming cruise (6/1). Of course most of what comes from V.S. doesn't take up enough room to hurt anything. Plus, I'd never complain about her taking that kind of stuff.

True, DH does not complain either. I like to pack nice new things! I told my hussband about the thread. He admited to throwing stuff away on vacation! Opposites attract!

Your luggage could be even lighter if you didn't pack any at all

Redwitch....I knew I liked you. Great idea, I'll pass it on to DW. Actually, I already suggested it, but it didn't work out. I guess opposites do attract.
I'm not complaining though, I've seen a few of what she is packing.
Also, thanks for a great review and pics of the Valor. We'll be boarding her this Sunday!!!!

I'm the one who would be worried about throwing them away. Having the cabin steward see my underwear with the holes and all raggesty. I guess they wouldnt be expecting a very big tip.

Where are ya planning on throwing them away that no one will see them?

I typically keep dirty clothes that I am not going to launder in a plastic bag. I would just keep a second bag for socks and undies or whatever I was going to trash and toss it in the day you leave. Then they haven't seen it and they aren't ever going to see you again. I'm sure they've cleaned out much worse and stranger things from the cabins.
