Ah ... food glorious food. I have always loved the food on Carnival. However, on my last cruise I LOVED the food.
I think it is great that the dining room dinner menu now has a side with selections that are available each night. On prior Carnival cruises the menu totally changed each night. I love trying new foods. But.. there were times I just ordered to order.
I like being able to have my shrimp coctail every night or a steak if it pleases me. And... OH the .. Chocolate Melting Cake... is a chocoholics delight.Yum
I love the night were lobster is on the menu too.
What do you recommend?
Carol :-)

The chocolate melting cake tops my list of favorite items in the dinning room.
DW casts her vote for the ceaser salad. The first night of our last cruise she let our waiter know it was a standing order to have a ceaser salad ready for her. I think every night it was there when we sat down.

Oh I like your DW's idea. I think I'll do that. Love the ceaser too. I never thought about telling the wait staff that I wanted something every night... except for my Ice Tea and lemon. Even at the Pizza Parlor on the Lido. I'll stop in and get the chicken ceaser. yum.

As a chef, I enjoy most all foods. I encourage folks to try things they have never had as they might just enjoy it. And a cruise is the perfect place to do so. They seem to have a large selection, and if you don't like it, you can send it back for something else and no bill, no harm, no foul.
So, order your favorites, but try something else also. My wife and I are looking forward to our first cruise in four weeks, and I cannot wait to sample the fare.
Although I loved the chocolate melting cake, it was actually my THIRD FAVORITE Dessert - Love all of the desserts but these are my favorites...
Bitter and Blanc (dark and white chocolate gourmet bread pudding)
Tiramisu
Warm Chocolate Melting Cake
There was a soup on our last cruise that was wonderful. I was afraid I may not even like it at all but it was my favorite appetizer the entire week. I never can remember what type but it was a bean soup - navy bean soup maybe Anyway, I agree that all diners should be daring and try things out of the ordinary for you...you may just love it (and if not, send it back).

Life's a Beach ... enjoy it on a Cruise!
I love the warm chocolate melting cake--had it every night!!!! I also tried the key lime pie and I am sure I had an out of body experience while eating it!!!!!
I love seafood, so lobster night is my fave night. I had no appetizer, but two helpings of lobster (with jumbo shrimp and a yummy rice/muchroom dish!).
I went to the chocolate buffet (Conquest class and up) on my last cruise and tried five of the desserts--oh my, heavenly or what!!!! Chocolate, choclate, chocolate, and more chocolate!!!

I LOVE the cold chilled soups and have a different one every night
I allow my waiter to chose my menu every night..I just tell him/her what I DON'T want (which is very little) and let him/her surprise me..as a "safety net" my GF will make sure whatever she orders will include something she knows I like (which is just about everything)
I also tip my waiter every night after the meal (instead of waiting untill the last night), so the arrangment works out very well for me
I love the seafood you get in the dining room. Oh and the rack of lamb Oh my it is easy to try new things because if you don't like it you just ask for something else. That is why I like having the choices that are available every night.
Oh I forgot to mention before the Grand Marnier souflet... yum.

On our last cruise, I took pictures of what we ate each night - you might gain five pounds just from reading about it on my blog :-)
My favorites though were the escargots, pumpkin soup (yum, yum - my daughter decided to try it - and then I never got it back!), and the blanc and bitter bread pudding.
ooo Stuffed Mushrooms... what are they stuffed with. I love the stuffed mushrooms at Red Lobster.. Are they like that or better? yum

What's not to love?? It would be easier for me to write a list of the food I did not like. With the exception of hamburgers and sushi I like about everything they serve.

Ooo Strawberry bisque is it served cold? I love having victorian type tea parties. And sometimes during strawberry season I'll make a cold strawberry soup to serve as a starter. I'll look for the strawberry bisque on my next cruise.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
On my last cruise the best menu item was the ribeye steak it was so juicy and tender. My hubby's favorite is the creamy mushroom soup.
I also discovered what I like about cruising to Italy there is a lot of walking and stairs at the Vatican and in Venice (no cars). I didn't gain any weight on my last 14 day cruise.
