obstructed view balcony...is it really obstructed?
DH and I are looking at booking a crusie on Carnival Spirit to Alaska in Sept. I just wonder if category 7A is really obstructed? If it is, we're not going to risk it and book at least an 8A. Any other info you have on Alaskan cruising would be great. We've previously only cruised the Caribbean.
The view from our balcony in Glacier Bay was breathtaking. I have never been in an obstructed view balcony. But I wouldn't take a chance on missing any of that view.

We are sailing the Spirit in September as well. Cabin 7186 extended balcony.
We have what is said to be obstructed Cat 11 on the BLOG2NOLA cruise but in our past experience, obstructed was not such a bad thing. Sure there might be the front or back one third of a lifeboat in your view, but I should think that for most of the daylight hours one would be up on deck 12 for the best views anyway.

20 years ago we had Johnny Cash, Bob Hope and Steve Jobs. Now we have no Cash, no Hope and no Jobs. Please don't let Kevin Bacon die.
We were on the Spirit out of San Diego on Feb 2nd this year. We were in cabin 5196, which is an obstructed view, and had absolutely no complaints. We were looking over the top of a lifeboat that was below the balcony railing.
