Default Postcard/stamps???

I read you have to have the country's postage and you can only mail postcards from the ship. I have a 99 year old Grandma that loves mail and I would like to send her a postcard a day. Anyone know how it works best??? Can I use our postage in Puerto Rico maybe?

So...can you buy postcards ashore and mail them when you return to ship or get the stamps and mail them ashore?

I would think it would be easier to mail them from shore. I remember mailing a post card from the ship and I was home for three weeks before it arrived....

I'm wondering the same thing... what's the easiest way? Maybe even buy a postard on Tuesday but then mail it Wed am at the purser's desk with that's day postage? I don't want to waste time finding someplace to mail it in port. Anyone else have any better suggestions?? How bad will the lines be at the purser's desk also and can you buy the stamps in advance for the whole cruise or by the day as far as the different countries? Sorry I am full of questions but I hate to waste time once we're on the cruise waiting in line or looking for a mailbox!!

On our last trip I bought post cards and stamps in every port and mailed them from that port. I was told ships mail would not go out until the ship reached an American port, I don't know if that was true or not.

Each port either had a post office near the port or in the mail shopping area, or had a shop set up selling post cards and stamps and arraigning mailing.

The only problem I had was in Grand Turk where the operator of the little post office shop closed up about an hour after we got there and then wondered around drinking and visiting with the other shop owners.

All of my post cards made it home with no significant problems.

Non-US cost $1-$2 for airmail, Porto Rico and US Virgin Islands used standard US first class postage.

Generally, 5 minute line, Postcards with that island's mail usually mailed shortly before sailaway from that island.
