Default AHHHHHH! You forgot what?

Only 11 days to go and I don't know what else we need to do! We are so excited! Did the fun pass, before and after cruise info - still need to pack. What did you forget to pack which was very vital!

If you wear contact lenses half the time and glasses the other half, do not forget to bring your case for your glasses if you have an early flight and don't feel like putting ye ole contacts in right away. We had a 6am flight and I wore my glasses and was going to put my lenses in before the 8am flight......my case for my glasses was left on my desk at home.

I have also forgotten to bring a case for my contacts once, so here I am wearing my contacts and then I got to take them out and realize my case is on my desk. packed so quickly I forgot all about my lense case. Thankfully, it found two dixie cups to use as lense cases for the weekend...

Single dollar bills for baggage tips and room service tips. Also any cab rides etc while in ports.. If youre going to do any laundry bring quarters and soap. You can get it on board of course but you need money and patience to wait in line.

Aloe vera gel.. great for the inevitable sun burn. A hat and glasses as well as lip balm too. Saving face is what I call it!!

I made a whole list of things that I would have liked to have along... which of course I can't find now!... but here's what I remember:

calculator - to figure out exchange rates etc
plastic document holder/envelope - just something to hold onto all your receipts and small bits of paper... I ended up using the envelopes slipped under my door with notes and messages which were just not very durable
pens - distribute them in every pocket of your luggage... they disappear quickly
Definitely the duct tape mentioned earlier- I actually picked up RED duct tape at a dollar store whick made me look VERY high class... ok maybe just a little better than silver
bug spray and sun screen - every SPF you can think of... the new continuous spray ones are what we liked best for appliying by ourselves.

Wipes - we ran out after our second shore day... baby wipes are fine but the alcohol ones are great for public places on shore

A wine / bottle opener - sure we made it on with 2 bottles of wine... then we need to beg for a corkscrew!

Phone Charger - no explanation needed

toothpaste... since you can't take it on the plane anymore, it is often forgotten.

Hope this helps and maybe gets the wheels turning!

OH OH OH

an extra folding duffle or bag that you can use in case your bags are overweight or to put purchases in... nothing quite fits back in they way it did when you leave home.

I forgot... make photocopies of all your credit cards and id you are taking and the phone numbers for each card. Also, phone numbers for your travel insurance.

For your baggage, make sure you keep all your boarding passes and luggage check claims in case your bags get lost or damaged -even if something happens on the return, they still want to see your checked bag tags from the outbound flight... make reports as soon as you see something wrong... we had a lost bag and a severely damaged bag when we arrived in FLL and the NWA clerk said that she made note of the damaged bag and that the forms and reporting actually had to be done when we returned ... LIES... now we are on the hook for the wrecked bag... still waiting for my settlement on the never found bag. On that note, if you made lists of what to pack, take them. It will help you replace as much as possible in the limited time that they give you... sorry to be pesimistic regarding baggage but it is amazing how they manage to lose so many bags.

I will stop rambling now...

We always take 2 over the door shoe holders! One for shoes (kids!!!) and the other to hold things like ID tags, cameras, brushes etc. All the small stuff you can misplace

A bit frivolous but - headphones for my IPod. Could not find replacements aboard ship, in Grand Cayman, or in Mo' Bay. Unbelievable !

Finally found my list... other than previous, here is what I listed:

Fewer clothes / shoes
Computer Speakers
Clock
Skoosh
Picture ID other than passport

Things I took recommended by other bloggers:

Lens wipes
Postits
Water Proof cooler bag
Flashlight
Cold Meds, band aids, polysporin, baby powder
Hot / Cold Pack

I took 7 pairs of shoes... I could have made due with 4 or even 3.

Good Luck and happy packing!

Hey Dan!

Yep...that's the truth. I didn't bring half of that stuff, but you never know what someone else will need and it's great to have a comprehensive list. What's a skoosh? I added it to the list from someone's post and I have no idea what it might be.

One day I need to do a packing video of all that stuff!

a skoosh... geez, I have never needed to define it before... it's those shower exfoliator puff ball thingys... must be a term uniquely used here in the prairies... or maybe just in my mind.

Oh! A body buffer! or a nylon net puff! Now I know! I looped those around my luggage handles so I could spot my bags easier....it was a great conversation starter!

Thanks,
Melody

or a web site that gives honest hotel reviews.

Since I am away from home for more than 1/2 the year, I find it very valuable.

ok embarrassing...but true.

something about a cruise and all that food....well, one cruise i sure wish i had brought some super strength exlax!

I was miserable for days!

otherwise i followed the advise on the packing post and never needed to go to sundrie shop....actually had "almost every" over the counter med known to man and then some, i over packed due to the list, but it was all good, and i never unpacked my "baggies" of stuff so everytime i cruise (or vacation) i just load the baggies back in the bag and i'm off.

I would have never thought of duct tape, what a great idea! Thanks for all the info . If you have more, keep them coming - we sail in 8 days and I'll keep checking the thread!

FYI - I found that if you call the desk or your steward they will bring you a fan. I needed it on one cruise.

Let's see... I love taking highlighting pens. If there are 2 people in my group I take 3 colors. When you get the Carnival Capers there is a section you can detach with the schedule of events for the day. We always ask our steward to make sure we get 2 copies of capers. We each go through it and highlight the things we are interested in doing. Then we mark the things we both want to do. We carry it with us the next day. :-)
