I read an article and I thought it was on this site that two of Carnivals ships would retire. One was the Holiday but it was early 09 I believe. I cant find the article and was wondering if anyone knew what ship might replace her and when. Any help is appreciated.

Have not seen anything in stone but speculation is it would be after the Splendor is on the West Coast (March 09) and the Pride comes back East spending time in Florida before moving to Baltimore. My guess is the weakest market will probably lose a Fantasy class ship to Mobile. The Fascination is scheduled to go to Jax in September to replace the already departed Celebration.
I was told that the on THE FANTASY in May that THE TRIUMPH would replace the HOLIDAY in Mobile, but i don't know when!!!!
The Triumph going to Mobile was a huge false report last year that got a lot of press. The "announcement" even looked legit. It was actually a really good fake...but still a fake.
Currently the Mobile Basin does not have the turn radius necessary for a ship the size of the Triumph.
A long time ago, I posted a link that discussed the retirement of the Celebration and the Holiday in the same article. I will try to find it again.
The Celebration is already gone and I predict (but this is just opinion and nothing more) the Holiday will go next Spring when they do the big switch around with the Splendor going to the West Coast and the Pride coming to the East Coast.
I predict the Fantasy going to Mobile and the Triumph coming to New Orleans. But again..that is just opinion and nothing more.

COMPLETES THE FLEET
If it is Carnival and it floats....we have sailed it!
Hubby ... DIAMOND (every ship except the Carnivale)
Me ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale)
20 year old son ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale...he is the only DOUBLE Milestone under the age of 21)
24 year old son ... DIAMOND
That sounds more likely,i hope they put a bigger ship in New Orleans, and do longer cruises.I Just thought something to keep in mind. The Fantasy is
going into dry dock in Mobile in Sept.,so there is a ship yard there, and an air craft carrier,so there must be some deep water somewhere!!!!
For those of you who might not be aware of the Celebration's whereabouts...
Editor's Note: It's adios for Carnival's Celebration. Carnival, as part of a joint venture with a Spanish travel company, has transferred Celebration out of its fleet as of April 2008. Carnival and Orizonia Corporacion, Spain's largest travel company, have named the joint venture Iberocruceros. The 1,486-passenger Celebration, which launched in 1987, is undergoing an extensive renovation before it moves to Spain. The name has been changed to Grand Celebration.
At the cruise show in Mobile a few months ago, a Carnival Rep announced that the Holiday would be replaced in 2009 with a Fantasy class ship. My bet is on the Sensation or possibly the Fantasy coming to Mobile.

There was a Conquest class ship in NO- it was the Conquest! We sailed on her from there in 2002 or 2003. The port was great, the ship awesome and for first timers- the best time ever! After Katrina, they moved her- what a loss! We always hope they'll take another Conquest class or the new class coming out next year into NO. The port is great for a couple day stay tacked onto the cruise. Although, it has changed quite a bit from pre-Katrina times, or so I understand.

I would even vote for a Spirit class ship to be moved to N.O. - it seems they have a great layout/deck plan. Whatever the class, N.O. needs a Carnival ship for the 7 or 6&8 day itineraries. We definitely have the market.

Well, it looks like the Splendor will soon be in Los Angeles from April 2009 on so no telling where the Pride is going to next. That would be nice to see her in NO since that is a future cruise for us and we really like the Spirit class.

In March Pride is headed for Miami for the summer and will eventually end up home ported in Baltimore.
