I'm going on my first 7-day cruise next June and wanted to kmow if anyone ever wore the same formal or dressy dress on both formal nights? I really don't care if anyone notices. I'm determined to do this cruise with only one carry on bag, like I did my 4-nighter last year.
I see no problem with that. I wore the same shirt and dress pants both nights! It is your vacation, no one can tell you to not wear it again, besides, you only have to impress your other half and yourself!

as long as you have fresh underwear and socks everyday (speaking from a male perspective), it doesn't matter ...I always wear the same suit, just a different color shirt and tie that matches my GF attire
these days everyone is going to start doing it to keep it down to one bag
I do it!!! Nobody will notice that it's the same outfit. If they do, who cares, you'll never see these people again.

i would! I did pack 2 formal outfits for the first cruise, but yanno, i was sorry i did lol
last cruise i took 1 pair of black slacks, black capri's and a nice pair of dark black jeans. I wore the black slacks with a formal shirt and i felt great and comfy! I just alternated the "pants" part of my wardrobe every other day and i had lots less to pack and NO DRESSES that was the best part!
Thanks everyone. I'm planning to being a short, low-cut, thick spaghtti strapped black velvet dress for formal nights, so I'll wear it both nights. I also plan to bring white capris, which I will wear with a different camisole top eachnight for dinner, khaki shorts to wear with tank tops for excursion days, white shorts to wear with other tank tops for at sea days on board as well as a swuimsuite, of course, and a beige pair of shorts as well, for days on board and nights after dinner. Long live the tank top for summer; I have a huge collection. They are also great with capri pants. One pair of black flat dressy shoes for evenings, sneakers, and flip flops.
wearing the same thing both formal nights is no big deal.
another tip, if you have 1 black skirt, mix it up with 2 different tops
or 1 dress, mix it up the second night with a shawl, wrap or scarf.
other space savers - you don't need a different outfit everyday.....
I wear the same shorts every sea day, over my swim suit.
travel size bottles .... if you don't use these...you are wasting a bunch of space. I use travel size bottles for almost everything.
and you don't have to BUY your products in travel size, use hotel soaps, shampoos etc that you have saved up.
or..... buy the empty travel size bottles at Walmart for 88Cents and fill them with your products.
OR -- use whats available to you if you aren't particular or dont' have sensative skin etc. Most ships have Soap and Shampoo right in the shower.
They also have a hair dryer - no need to pack yours.
Do I do this so I can save money at the airport on my EXTRA bag --- ? NO...I do this so I can bring ALL MY SHOES !!!!!
I also do cruises with a carry on bag and a backpack ... have done 15 days cruises like that. It is amazing what you can pack .. That way you can also carry on your suitcase and unpack before you head topside for a nice relaxing drink.
Have a geat cruise ...

thanks everyone....I did my first cruise (4 nighter on Sensation) last summer with only one carry on and a big shoulderbag. I know all about travel cosmetics, etc. I only plan to bring 2 pairs of shorts - one for on ship and one for excursions and as a backup in case one gets dirty before I do laundry mid-week. I am planning to only bring 3-4 shirts as I will be wearing each one twice. As for shoes, I'm not an Imelda Marcos. I'll be arriving wearing my sneakers (which are also for all excursions days) and other than one pair of dressy black flats to wear every night for dinner (including formal night), I will bring my flip flops for the pool and just walking about the ship in general. I'm flying in from Chicago, so I will be staying the night before with my mom and I will get hair conditioner there. I don't mind using the ship's shampoo (though it's not really great quality) but I will not skimp on conditioner! I need a lot (very long, thick hair!)
Also, I do pack a tiny travel hair dryer as I like/need one with a lot of power.
When I wake up Wed (in St Thomas) (I usually get up at 5:30) I'll quickly wash shirts, etc. in the sink and then take them to the laundry room to pop them in the dryer. They will dry by the time I'm done drying my hair and before I head to breakfast.
I figured wearing the same formal outfit was ok because Hubby has always worn the same suit...just changed the tie!!
If he can do it... I can do it!!!

I have worn the same thing for both formal nights on several cruises - its called a tuxedo
Personally, I see absolutely no problem with this idea. I do think the suggestion to consider a shawl or something to change it a little for the second night to be a good idea.

Your thoughts?
I ALWAYS wear the same thing twice!! Who cares and who will notice. You are the only one who knows!!
I don't see any problem with it. I have taken my black fly-away pants and paired it with different tops for formal nights. I really don't think anyone would notice if you wore the exact same thing twice. Go and have a good time!

WE'RE PLATINUM!!
Other than reading posts, I have not seen anything about formal nights, do you know which nights they are on a 7 day cruise? (Carnival Pride to Mexico).
As for packing, I think I'll be fine, until I consider the shoes I want to take! Hee hee they will need their own bag Although part of me fantasizes how much of the time one can get away with just wearing a bathrobe and flip flops (with a bathing suit of course). ... I would not do this for dining, but the idea of being so relaxed for the rest of the time sure is a nice one!
Also been doing that of late. I don't trust the airlines with baggage in the hold anymore.

I plan to bring oine carry-on and a backpack sounds like a great idea, instead of the laptop case I was going to bring for my laptop. easier way to carry it - and i can hae my purse inside there too, as well as a large padded envelope with my tickets, passports, other travel docs.
I don't trust anyone to lose my luggage. I just got a new laptop with a wider screen so I'm looking forward to finding a quiet spot on a lounge chair and getting soime writing done while I gaze at the sea/.
Check with your airlines as you get closer to your departure date. With the fees for checking bags, a lot of folks are going to try to bring as much as they can on board. Bin space is going to get used up really fast.
Some airlines have already said only one carry on bag.
