Well, I bought my tickets for thanksgiving weeks cruise from new orleans to fort lauderdale. Southwest finally came out - and the tickets were not to much cheaper, but I sucked it up and bought it. The return flight home doesn't leave until 5:30 pm. What can we do while waiting for our flight?? How far away is the FLL airport from the terminal. Should we get transfers to the airport from carnival? I guess we are just going to have to sit in the airport all day and wait, huh? Any suggestions?
I belive there is an Everglades air boat tour for people leaving after 3pm which imcludes transfer to the airport. Luggage goes on the bus with you. We are thinking sbout taking this tour off the Freedom in Jan. You can find this tour in FLL tour section. Aiport is 1 or 2 miles
I just looked too on the list for my cruise and it isn't there on the carnival site. ;-( Perhaps its something you can only book on the ship? I'd sure like to know so I can do the transfers (I think). Our flight isn't until 5:30pm.
When I look for excursions in Ft. Lauderdale it is there. When I login and click on plan activities, shore excursions, nothing shows up. It is probably a book on ship tour, but I would double check with a Carnival rep.
We did the Everglades/airport transfer after our cruise in 2001 and it was great and kept our vacation going a little longer. Your luggage is kept under the bus according to your departing airline but you can keep your carryon in the bus with you. We still arrived with plenty of time for our flight. We needed it too, to clean up in the bathroom because it was raining for us. Good thing we had a change of clothes in our carryon and hairdryer! Enjoy!

If you end up not doing an excursion don't use the Carnival transfers to airport. It is only 2 miles and there are plenty of taxis and shuttles. Last time we took the shuttle for $9 (I think) and it worked out well.
