Default the miracle dry docked?

hello, i was just talking to my ta about the changes the miracle made with the port switch from tortola to grand turk and she gave me a paper which said about the miracle having minor technical problems with the propuision system. in other words the boat will only go half speed. she also said that there is a chance that my cruise in sept. could be canceled because of the problem. she said that the miracle is going to be dry docked in october for repairs and it could happen sooner then that. what are the chances ill be dry docked in sept?

Nobody here knows that answer. Contact Carnival and ask is your best bet.

The Miracle was actually drydocked in Freeport in April 2007. We had originally booked a cruise on her and got a call from Carnival (about 9 months ahead of time) that she would be in drydock. Booked on the Glory instead and Freeport was one of our stops....pulled in and there was the Miracle! Hopefully they can repair the problem without pulling her out of service for that long! We are scheduled on her next March.

We are also booked for the Miracle Sept 14. I called them about the itinerary change and got the propulsion story and how they took tortolla off because it was deeper in the caribbean. BULL!!!!! Anyone who has taken a tour on St. Thomas is shown Tortolla from the top of the island. All these cruiselines are now including Grand Turk on their itineraries. I wonder if they don't have a financial stake in this island. We went to Grand Turk last year on Princess. What a terrible island. We booked a tour for $29 or so a piece, what a waste of money. They showed us a lighthouse we couldn't go up in, an abandoned jail and that was it. The real scary part was the daily flyer that was in our room warned us we may be offered drugs while on the island. I wish we had known this before we got off the ship. The pier area has a Margaritaville with a neat pool with a walk up or swim up bar. Prices very expensive. The beach right next to the pier looks great but our family members that went there said they could not walk in the water, full of coral and rocks.

Just a heads up for you. For us islands don't matter, the cruise is the fun part - hey it's vacation and we enjoy every minute of it. We've been on the pride and the legend and are looking forward to checking out the miracle - Kathy

I'm scheduled to sail out next Wednesday the 13th. To my knowledge, everything's a go.

I'm on the Miracle the 21st of this month. I've done the 8 day cruises out of NYC several times (on the Legend), and those that have been on them know that the ship has to move at near maximum speed to get down and back from the San Juan, St. Thomas, & Tortola area in the two days allotted at the beginning and end of each cruise. I got the letter about a month ago explaining about the propulsion problem, and that it would cause a reduction in speed. NOT half speed as was mentioned above. If that were the case, it would take 3 days plus to get down to San Juan!! The move of the last port from Tortola to Grand Turk reduces the distance the Miracle has to travel the last two days, and ensures getting back to NYC on time for the next cruise. In reality the cost of the speed reduction is two less hours each in San Juan & St. Thomas. I would have preferred not stopping in San Juan instead, but I look foward to my first visit to Grand Turk.

I'm not booked on "Miracle" until December 7th, so I'm not going to worry too much about it. Guess I'll keep watching the boards for any new information. "Miracle" is my favorite Carnival ship, so I hope nothing happens to her.
