I just found out that I have VIP check-in out of NYC. Has anyone embarked this way? Does it really make a difference, or do you have to stand on that horrendous line? I embarked onto the Miracle last summer out of NYC and it felt like we were cattle getting herded, and I definitely don't want to have to experience that again!
Don't know about NY - but VIP check in is awesome! You don't have to stand in the long lines. Look for the signs for VIP check in when you arrive at the terminal - or if you don't see any - ask a Carnival employee - they will point you in the right direction! Have fun!
We have been through VIP at most of the common ports.
In New York, we arrived around 11AM.
As folks arrived...folks who were VIP was seated in a special section.
As we walked up, the Carnival Rep was asking all VIP to stand and follow her...so we did not even get to sit down.
We were processed at the regular Check In counters...but we were processed before anyone else.
After checking in, they seated us again in a separate section at the head of the room and around 11:45am we were taking embarkation pictures and being taken to the ship.
I am assuming that as VIP arrived later on in the day...they were simply led to the head of the line for immediately check in.
Some ports (like Miami) have a large room and comfy couches where you wait after they have checked you in and then they lead you to the ship.
COMPLETES THE FLEET
If it is Carnival and it floats....we have sailed it!
Hubby ... DIAMOND (every ship except the Carnivale)
Me ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale)
20 year old son ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale...he is the only DOUBLE Milestone under the age of 21)
24 year old son ... DIAMOND
Vip was quick in NYC. However, it was not like Miami. It was an area of metal folding chairs, roped off. We were escorted through security and to check-in. Miami is soo much nicer. We were in the older terminal when we left. The refurbished terminal is a little nicer.
I did VIP out of NYC in July, 08. I arrived at the terminal at around 12:30. They had already started boading passengers.
Once I got through the x-ray machines, I literally never stopped moving until I was on the ship. There was a special counter for VIP with no wait. VIP cards must have been previously created b/c the lady was back with mine in under 20 seconds. There is separate line to enter the ship for VIP and a separate door and camera to get your picture take for VIPs.
It was awesome.
