Default Snorkeling in Cozumel

Okay, as in my previous post, hubby and I are going on a cruise next month. He LOVES to snorkel. Has anyone done the snorkeling excursions? Would you recommend them? Would it be better to purchase them on or off the ship? I have really been leaning towards two in particular, the 3 reef one offered through Carnival, and the 2 reef and beach party offered off ship, but through what I believe to be the same company. Any suggestions?

Thank you,
Kara

Do the Fury excursion. You'll have a blast. I think we've done it three times.

Yes, do the Fury. Either through the ship oron your own it is only a few dollars different. FUn snorkeling but the best part is the drinking afterwards!!

Which one exactly is the Fury? I can't seem to locate it on the shore excursion page.

Depends what you are looking for in your trip. The snorkeling in Cozumel is very good. If $s are important, book your own trip dockside. You can even search outfitters on-line before you go.

We did the snorkel & beach break - nice excursion, beach was good for kids but the tequilla flowed very freely on the catamaran and a good time was had by all.

Chankanaab Park is great for snorkling. You can get a cab and go on your own instead of taking the excursion with Carnival. A entrance fee of 16.00 per person includes shaded chairs & showers. It also has swimming with the dolphins (extra cost) and has a beautiful garden to explore that is free. One of our favorite places to go.
Bring water shoes, it is a bit rocky going into the water.

How busy was your excursion with the Fury Catamaran group? From the website, their boats look pretty packed.

Sometimes it's a bit crowded. Depends. It can get crowded in the water when you are snorkling but you can find an area that is not so. Whatever, the party afterwards is a hoot.

It is not too bad. We did the afternoon session and was a blast. There were maybe 30-40 peeps onboard. We spent an hour or so at a nice beach after snorkel and then the cruise back to the ship.

Was just there in Jan., don't know about Fury, which looks great , but Segway/snorkeling was a blast if the Fury is booked.

What transportation did you use to get to and from the fury and the cruise ship?

You use your own two feet.

The pick-up spot for the Fury is right at the end of the pier (a 3-minute walk) and you board the catamaran right there.

The FURY is the BEST!!!

I have to 100% agree with "Dave the Wave"!!
We did the Deluze Sail, Snorkel and Beach Party, and booked
it off the cruise ship, Carnival Legend, and had the best time
ever. It was very inexpensive and the crew was fantastic!!
Especially "popeye", the the captain. The snorkeling was
beautiful and we saw lots of fish

Default If you're looking for super cheap beach...

Just got back from Cozumel on Aug 12th. I have 2 little kids so no snorkeling but we just wanted a nice sandy beach. We took a cab ride to "Mr. Sanchez" beach which is right next to "Paradise Beach". It was $15 for a whole cab. Free entrance but no fresh water shower, etc... There are some snorkeling but nothing fancy. For us, this fits the bill just fine.
