Default drinks in casino

Are the cocktails "free"? Meaning if you play, you drink (like in U.S. casinos and whatnot) complimentary? Casino drinks are truthfully the most expensive kind, if you think about it. I'm a sucker, I know.

No, not normally free, unless you're gambling quite a bit. You might want to become a member of the Ocean Players Club if you plan on gambling. They do have some perks for members.

I have sailed on Carnival 21 times and am a big gambler, however, free drinks in the casino have never been a perk on Carnival. I have been given a free beer on the first night, perhaps on 2 occasions, but its only to get you back on night 2, 3, 4...I found NCL to be the most giving in this regard. With this said, Carnival is still my cruise line of choice.

We've been on several cruises in the past, and never are the drinks free, not even in the casino.

Oh well. We won't be spending much time in the casino, anyway. We'll check it out for sure, but no playing the nickle slots while having drinks delivered for hours! That gets kind of depressing after a while. I'd rather slide down the slide. Thanks for all the info, though. I appreciate it.

I've never had free drinks in the casino on Carnival but I've been able to get several free drinks on each cruise

-- Captains Party
-- Past Guest Party
-- Art Auction
-- Free taste session in the on board liquor store
-- Plus occasional free tastes in the ports.

I don't drink much so these cover about all I need except for maybe a foo foo drink on deck during the sail away.

Thanks for the heads up! We will check those out if they are available. Our purpose isn't to just booze it up (too much!) but why not get all ya can for free, and have a good time while doing it? We usually do all-inclusives...so we aren't used to ponying up for alcohol. No biggie, though.

I've never been to an art auction. Not that I would buy anything but I still would like to say I've been to one.

About this captain's party....do all the passengers show up at one time to meet the cap? That must be a big room with a lot of waiters roaming around. I was just wondering how they make that work.
