We will be in Cozumel this trip for about 14 hours and want to be able to get around the island and see alot more than just the shopping area. What is the cost and is it safe to rent a Jeep to get around? Easy to navigate????
You basically have one main road with a couple of side roads.
So navigation should not be an issue.
My main suggest (from experiences I have read...I have not done this personally) is GET THE FULL INSURANCE!!!!
The West side is where all the commercial beach resorts are...however, the EAST side (while primitive) does have a couple of bars and restaurants.
Cozumel has the major car rental places...just go online and check their prices.
We love Cozumel. We find it very tourist friendly. We go several times a year.
Hope you have a great time!!

Wow 14 hours sounds great. I rented my first jeep on Cozumel over 25 years ago. At the time there were only four on the entire island and the one and only rental agency was at the old airport. It has changed. We hit Coz 4-5 times a year and get a jeep whenever we are with another couple.
I agree with you that with that amount of time a jeep is the way to go. With all the insurance it'll probably be about $65.00. Be sure to stop at Playa Bonita on the east side. Parking is not that bad in San Migel. Don't forget to fill up b4 returning it, that's when they get into your $.
