Default Copies of DD214 - how long does it take?

Hi,

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a copy of a DD214? Also, will Carnival honor it on a current booking or does it have to be presented at the time you actually booked your cruise?

Thanks!!

You should have a copy in your personal file.

We usually end up faxing it to our TA. I have never booked with Carnival directly, but would think they would need a faxed copy too.

I agree, but I was told a couple of weeks ago that Carnival is demanding the form, because of fraud.

There must be different discounts...military and veterans. Many military members won't get a DD 214 until they separate.

Discount is the same. I don't know what the form is called for active duty.

Since I have 2 cruises booked with Carnival, I've E-mailed them asking to clear this up. I guess when they get back with me I'll share what they say.

Sounds good. We did not start cruising until Jim retired, so I don't know the answer.

I was told I was good to go on my reservist ID.

If you are AD, NG or resv your ID is good to go. If you are retired then they need a copy of your DD 214 and it can take anywhere from a month to 6 months depending on the workload. I had to fax a copy of my oldest son's ID and my DD 214 when we booked our cabins.

I have several DD214's,,,got one every time I reenlisted! They used to ask that I faxed a copy of a DD214 every time I booked, but lately I haven't been required to send it? In the past I questioned why they needed me to fax it EVERY time, and they said that's just the way they do business. I suggested they put on file that I qualified for the discount, so maybe they actually did that. (I don't like faxing the DD214 because it has so much information on it! They assured me that they destroy it immediately after seeing it.)

We have one on file at our local TA but we were allowed to block out most of the info. Hubby was also worried about the info getting in the wrong hands.

I always use the same Carnival PVP. She has my DD214 on file and will apply the discount without having to Fax each time.

I'm a dependant URW (Un Remarried Widdow) I recently booked on the Splendor and got the military discount. Just needed to fax a front and back copy of my ID.

Took me about 2 weeks to get mine. I applied for it online, printed out the request, signed it, and faxed it.

I'm a veteran too and I applied for a copy online. I hope you applied for the long form because if you applied for the short copy, Carnival may not honor it because they want to see the seperation conditions.

I was able to fax a copy to my Carnival rep. I don't have a veterans ID card. Honestly I have never found a need to have one.

It is nice that they give discounts for our veterans. They give up so much to serve for our country. Bob
