Default Smoking?

Leaving on Ecstasy from Galveston on 8/28 and wondering if smoking is allowed and in what areas? In the cabin? I imagine casino and in designated outside areas but not sure about cabin?

So far as I know, smoking is allowed in all cabins on Carnival. But, it can get pretty smokey fast. The A/C cleans it out fairly quickly, but even though I am a smoker, I rarely smoke in the cabin. One hint is to smoke in the bathroom and turn the air vent at a slight angle. Makes a tad more efficient.

I am pretty sure you cannot smoke in the cabin. I have been on many cruises and I have never smelled smoke in the cabin. I really don't think you can smoke in the cabin, becuase they also discourage smoking on the balcony.

The Spa Cabins and Suites are non smoking on Splendor and next year on the Dream.

(c) Carnival has designated the Spa stateroom and suite accommodations as an entirely smoke free environment. Guest booked in a Spa cabin agrees to strictly comply with this non-smoking policy and refrain from smoking or allowing any other Guests from smoking in the Spa cabin. Guest further acknowledges and agrees that any violation of this policy shall, in the sole discretion of Carnival, constitute a material breach of this cruise contract. In the event of such breach, Guest forfeits all rights hereunder, including the right to occupy the Spa Cabin and remain on board. Carnival reserves the right to move the Guest(s) to a non-Spa cabin or to disembark the Guest(s), at any port, as determined by Carnival. Carnival shall not be liable for any refund or other compensation or damages whatsoever to any Guest vacated from the Spa Cabin or disembarked pursuant to this provision, or who disembarks because another Guest is so disembarked, and all such Guests forfeit all rights under Carnival’s “Vacation Guarantee.” Guest and Carnival further agree that any violation of the non-smoking policy would also cause Carnival to incur damages, including but not limited to, loss of Guest goodwill, revenue, cleaning, maintenance and/or other costs. Guest and Carnival expressly acknowledge the difficulty of ascertaining the amount of such damages, and therefore agree that a reasonable estimate of the damages for any violation of the non-smoking policy is $250. Guest authorizes a charge in this amount as liquidated damages, as well as repatriation expenses (including airfare) against Guest’s on board charge account, without further notice, for any violation of the non-smoking policy.

Outside of this, in all other cabins smoking is allowed.

On Carnival, at present you can smoke in your cabin, and on your balcony. They have NO, no smoking cabins.... other than the new Spa category on the Splendor.

Some cruise lines (RCI and Celebrity in the mass market) do not allow smoking in your cabins.

Carnival does have smoking allowed in some of their indoor lounges (piano bar, and sports bar, disco and cigar bars), as well as in the casino.

On open decks smoking is allowed on one side of the deck, the other is designated non smoking.

Smoking will be allowed in your cabin on this cruise. Period, there is no doubt about that.

However, I do need to make you aware of what has been happening the past year on SOME ships....

I started hearing rumblings about this and did some research...now please realize this is simply what people (usually smokers) have been reporting actually happened to them. So this is no way a scientific poll.

Specifically in the past year, "some" Cruise Directors have made the announcements during the Muster Drill that smoking is NOT allowed in the Cabins. (I know.....I was SHOCKED) . But it has happened way more than once and by SEVERAL CDs.

There are no ashtrays in the cabins and "some" (actually a lot) of Cabin Stewards have been tellings folks that smoking is NOT allowed in the cabins, only on the balconies....when cruisers asked for an ashtray.

Now as we all know...the only balconies on Fantasy class ships are Cat 11 or Cat 12....and not a lot of those.

So IF you hear either of these answers.....they are wrong. (even if it comes from the CD) IF for some reason your Cabin Steward will not bring you an ashtray....simply call the Purser's Desk while he/she is standing there and have them tell the Cabin Steward to bring you one.

Now....smoke is NOT allowed in the cabin hallways .... so no propping open the door to "air out" your cabin.

Personally, I do think Carnival will eventually do away with smoking in the cabins like RCCL, especially on the Fantasy class ships that have the space under the cabin doors making the smoke travel easy from cabin to cabin.....and I think "someone" is trying to "ease" this prohibition into place.

Btw, there will also be a list of designated smoking areas listed in the Capers every day. These locations do not change...they are simply listed every day as a reminder.

Casino, Neon Bar (piano bar) , one side of the pool area outside on Lido, Disco and Chinatown (where the cover band plays) are the main areas.
UNLESS Camp Carnival is having a function there during the day, then there is no smoking because of the kids.

BTW< you are going to have a "smokin' (pun intended) Southern Rock band in Chinatown. They are called Dakota...and they are HOT!!!!!!
Especially Mark the guitarist....he is AWESOME!!!!

Have a great cruise!! We will be there shortly thereafter!!!!

Default Thanks

Thanks so much you guys.......I don't smoke a lot to but I do not like to offend others when I do so that was my main reason for asking.

I will stick to designated areas - if in my cabin will use the bathroom vent and bring some air freshener so it stays smelling nice. Plus will bring my own ashtray so no problems will come up. I am very careful so should not be a hazard. I am a little surprised as another poster said.....I never smell smoke so must have decent ventillation and great cleaning crews.....

I am so excited - just a couple weeks.....doin the dance....well when I get my papers will do the official dance.

Thanks again
Sweet

You have not gotten your documents yet?

We are sailing Sept 1st and got them August 1st.

If you are using a TA, you might want to check with them. Some TA's have gone to EDOCS.

Nice. I know there are some buildings or places that have cabins where you can smoke your cigarette without having to resort to standing outside for a cigar break. Cabins are really a big help since cigarette smoking is very common, it can satisfy smokers and at the same time solve tobacco smoke problems and bad odors.

Well, you've brought up a post from more than two years ago. Things have changed... .

I know it's an old post, but as a smoker I rarely smoke in the cabin. I tend to use designated areas so I won't stink up the room for others that follow on the next cruise. It's the thoughtless and heavy smokers that ruin it for the thoughtful smokers.

Why not? It is a great relaxer. I know it will cure sea sickness and headaches from over drinking the night before? I thought maybe since we are in open water, the bogus US laws for smoking canibus would be looked the other way. Have you tried it? If not maybe you should. Al

I am not saying legalize drugs, but canibus is no more of a drug than alcohol. I just thought like many countrys in the carribean that they just look the other way. Oh well. Al

We can only hope. Smoking parlors will again be popular. The smell is much more appealing than cigarettes. Al

As most people have said, smoking is allowed in cabins. The exception is Spa Cabins where no smoking is allowed.

The rumors from two years ago have not materialized and smoking is still allowed.

I do get a bit irritated when people intentionally tell people that smoking is not allowed when it is.

Also: There are no buses that can be smoked onboard. This includes canibus. I have smelled cannabis smoke while on a cruise. This is also illegal.

Take care,
Mike
