Carnival Ecstasy never makes it to Cozumel... AGAIN!

I just returned from our Cruise (8/14-8/18), and wanted to share that the Carnival Ecstasy never made it to Cozumel. Once again we were forced to go to Progreso, Mexico. The propulsion system wasn't working. This has happened for the 2nd time with my group of (#44) and we are disgusted and insulted by only a $20 credit to their sail & sign card. The last time this occured, they at least gave us $50.

At what point will this boat dry dock & get fixed? I truly believe they are leading consumers on with grossly misleading advertising. The purser's desk would only tell us to call 1-800-Carnival. I submitted a complaint to the BBB, only to see they already have a "F" rating!

Let me hear from you if this happened to your cruise as well.

Thanks

If it happened to you before, you were probably told then that the cruise contract allows them to change the itinerary at will.

It happened to you once, and you were unhappy, yet you went back.

It is the pits missing a port, but not something that's disallowed by the passenger contract.

As to the BBB, I don't know of many more useless organizations. They have no authority, no arm to investigate complaints to see if they are valid or not. They are just a filing cabinet.

Even though they technically have a right to go to another port (or none at all depending on circumstances), I can truly understand your frustration.

I guess it's a good thing Carnival isn't an airline! Airlines can't exactly wait to fix mechanical things like that without facing huge fines and risk a tragedy. I'll probably take heat for saying it and get a bunch of arm chair explanations why the propulsion system isn't that big of deal from the usual Carnival apologists, but it does make you wonder a bit how well other systems are maintained on board especially ones pertaining to safety.

I guess we have been lucky. We have been twice, and made it to Coz both times.

Sorry for your bad luck, but these ships do break down sometimes.

I too can understand your frustation, but PoPo happens.
As long as the frozen yogurt/ice cream machines aren't broken, I don't care if it gets to Cozumel or not,,,,,but that's just me. 8)

The odds of it happening to you twice is amazing. Sorry, but they certainly did not do it on purpose. I know they prefer Cozumel themselves.

If I book a 4-day on her I'll check the MOB to see it your on it. That way I'll get an idea if we're going to Coz or Progreso. :)[/u]

Tha happened to us when we went on the Esctacy for a friends wedding. It was a bummer but still ended up being the funnest cruise. I loved that ship. But Progresso is not the greatest of ports and we got 50 credit.

When we docked there were jellyfish everywhere at the pier.

It is unfortunate the OP twice missed the port.

I find it unfortunate that many users' first posts here lately are negative ones.

Keep in mind that this ship has some age on it, an old rust bucket!

This ship is very nice. It's one of the prettiest in my opinion. It may need some work mechnics wise. But I wouldn't call it a rust bucket. It was one of my favorite ships and cruises to date. Even if it didnt go where it was supposed to.

My aunt actually preferred the Ecstasy over the Conquest :o
Found the decor on the Conquest just a bit too weird and the Ecstasy although not as flashy was neat, clean, very pretty. Of course, we didn't have any mechanical problems when we went so that helps with our satisfaction level. Our Ecstasy cruise made us fall in love with cruising :!:
