Suggestions for pre-cruise hotel in L.A.

Could anyone recommend a hotel in either Long Beach or San Pedro? Our cruise leaves from Long Beach on Feb 1/09. We have stayed at the Doubletree in San Pedro, lovely hotel in a great setting, but their shuttle service doesn't go to Long Beach, just to the World Cruise Centre. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I realize that this is for pre-cruise and may be redundant, but how about the Queen Mary? Carnival's terminal shares the same parking lot, so transportation would not be a big deal. There is a lot of history involved and there are tours available of most of the ship. The prices are about the same as most of the other hotels in the area.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did consider this, but finally booked at the Best Western in Long Beach. It has good reviews and is a reasonable price. They also have a shuttle to the dock. Thanks again for your help.
