Default buying alcohol on board

I read something that said if you buy a bottle of alcohol on the ship that you do not get it until the end of the cruise. So you can not drink it on the ship. This can't be true is it?

Yes, it's true. All alcohol purchased while on the cruise will be held and delivered the last day. Sometimes you can get it past security if you bought alcohol in port.

Yep, like Irish Girl says, it's an absolute fact. We just returned from "Inspiration", and the lovely Mrs. Jones bough a bottle of Jose Cuervo, and we didn't see it until the last night, before debarkation. They've got to sell you all that liquor over the bar you know. Have a great trip anyway, and enjoy the booze when you get home.

I agree with the others you can't buy alcohol on board and have it delivered to you room. However, you can buy alcohol before you cruise and have it delivered to your room. The prices are higher then if you buy it on board. In order to buy a "bar set up" for you room call the bon voyage department 1-800-522-7648 (have your confirmation number and room number ready). A bottle of Rum or Vodka was about $40 on my last cruise. Bring a flask and buy a soda card you will be set for the trip.

If you buy alcohol in port they will hold it for you until the end of the cruise. I have heard of people sneaking it in.

You can purchase a bottle of wine during dinner and if you don't finish it, they will store it for you so you can drink it every night.

Alcohol is the biggest source of onboard revenue by far. I dont think they would ever loosen up the restrictions on bringing your own on. Wish they would though...

Always check at the gift shop when you get on the ship. A lot of times they will have specials the first night that you can buy and take with you right then. We were able to buy a tube of assorted flavored rum and take it to our room. There were other specials but there was a limited supply and once it was gone that was it.

I just called carnival and I bought a liter of Crown royal for $50.00. About ten dollars more than in the store but you dont worry about packing a bottle and worrying if it breaks or if they find it

I think that is the rule on all of the cruise lines, at least everyone we have been on.

I add my vote for the Bon Voyage dept. We're taking a short cruise next month and I'll have a bottle of Myer's rum waiting for me when I open the cabin door. $40 for a liter and I'm set.

Plus, you save the suitcase weight and have more room for shoes.
