Any Crusie cancellations due to the storms
I see that there's a few storms brewing, Hanna, Ike & Josephine. Has anyone heard of any cancellations or port changes for this weekend?

Have they ever changed departing ports due to a storm and what's the latest that they let you know? I hate for them to change locations and we not knowingly end up driving to the wrong port .

We're suppose to leave Saturday on Carnival Liberty, so any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am on the Liberty too. I am checking out the NOAA website and seeing what is happening. As it sits, it is projected to hit the Bahamas on Monday, we visit on Sunday, which means we would be in the way of Ike. I've checked the website to see if Carnival has changed our plans and reversed our order of ports (say St. Thomas/San Juan first/second and then Grand Turk/HMC at the end of the cruise.....

I suggest keep an eye on the NOAA website and Carnival's website to see what they have planned. I am not fortunate enough to keep checking until Friday as I leave late tomorrow night for my flight to Miami.

Cancellations of the cruise is not likely, at the very least we will be altered in our route or go the opposite direction. Carnival and the Captain have final say...I don't care where we go at this stage, I just want to get on the ship!!!

This is what I posted on the other thread that misguided has:

Altho I have not checked at CCL home page, below is what has been put out on Johns Blog, in case you are not a frequent reader....due to some iten changes, depending on the ship/change, they have made offers of:

"receive a 25% -50% refund of the cruise fare paid. In addition, guests will receive a 25% - 50% discount of a future Carnival Cruise
This discount applies to the cruise fare only. Please understand this offer is non-transferable.
If guests elect to cancel the cruise, we ask that guests contact us right away to cancel the booking. Guests will receive a full refund and refunds will be processed in less than two weeks. "

The current sailing had the following iten:

Carnival Liberty Sat., 8/30 departure from Miami: The ship will visit the ports of call in reverse order Ocho Rios (Mon), Grand Cayman (Tue), Cozumel (Thur)

CARNIVAL LIBERTY – 8/30/08 DEPARTURE (Seven-day cruise from Miami)

And here is an example of the letters we will distribute to our guests
August 30, 2008
Dear Carnival Guest:
We want to thank you for choosing Carnival for your vacation. We have an exciting cruise planned for you aboard the Carnival Liberty. We also want to provide you with some information about our itinerary for this cruise.
There is Hurricane Gustav, which is brewing in the Western Caribbean… Due to Gustav’s forecasted track, we will reverse the order of the ports of call. We will, therefore, call on Ocho Rios on Monday (arrive 9:00 AM; depart 5:00 PM); Grand Cayman on Tuesday (arrive 8:00 AM; depart 4:30 PM) and Cozumel on Thursday (arrive 8:00 AM; depart 10:00 PM).
We are sorry for having to reverse the itinerary for this cruise; however, these changes enable us to navigate the ship in the safest and most comfortable conditions. Rest assured, my number one priority is the safety of our guests and crew.
Our shore excursions staff will be able to assist you with any shore excursion questions.
Most importantly, we are looking forward to having you sail with us this cruise. The Captain, officers, staff and crew are dedicated to providing you with a great cruise vacation.
