Default Carnival Choices

My wife and I are trying to decide on our next cruise, and are looking for input. Down to these 3 next month 10/19 or 10/20:

Valor - Nassau, St. Thomas, St. Martin - only Nassau would be new to us.
Legend - Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, Roatan - only Roatan would be new to us.
Miracle - St. Martin, St. Lucia, St. Kitts - 8 days instead of 7, and St. Lucia and St. Kitts would be new to us.

We enjoy beaches and snorkling mostly. Valor's Seaside theater is a plus in our book too. I'm interested in St. Lucia and St. Kitts, as they seem more off the usual Carnival stop list, but Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and St. Martin are some of our favorites previous stops. From my understanding, Roatan is great for snorkling.

I'm also concerned about the Miracle Mutiny - any idea if things will be back to normal by next month - I don't want to go on a ship with an angry crew...

Comments or votes would be great!

I love new experiences. Plus St. Marteen was fun.

I have been to Nassau, St Thomas, Cozumel, Belize and all were nice but we are sailing on the Miracle for the itinerary you stated. We are sailing on 12/7 and I am sure the "Mutiny" will be settled by then, because those passengers are off the ship! That was a very bad situation for the crew but I am sure if the passengers are nice, the crew will also be as helpful as they always are.
There are lots of us on another site taking this cruise, too bad you will be sailing earlier but maybe you can let us know how it was if you decide to do the Miracle.
Have fun no matter what you choose!

Me and the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) have done all of these ships, and all of these itinerarys, and I really, really like all of them. Having said that, the "Miracle" is just about my favorite ship in the entire Carnival fleet, and the DEEP SOUTH itinerary is just a bit different, and includes some ports that you won't ordinarily see. It is also an 8 day cruise, as opposed to only 7 day for the other two, with four fabulous sea days included. All in all, a truly GREAT cruise.

P.S. We too are doing the December 7th cruise with Deb! Come on along as well!

Don't worry about the Mutiny. The crew and staff on these ships have sailed long enough to know that in any large group...there are going to be at least one arrogant jerk and several sheep willing to follow.

Just pat them on the back when you board and tell them how sorry you were to hear about what they had to go through and thank them for doing a great job....and your cruise will be amazing!!!

Have done the Legend this year and loved the itinerary. Given the possible damage to the southern islands from the hurricanes the past few weeks, I would choose the Legend for now. We are booked on the Miracle for the southern next year, and have sailed the ship before....love her!

Thanks for the comments!

The Valor seems nice, but we didn't find St. Thomas all that great the one time we were there. We do like the Seaside theater, and have enjoyed the Conquest class before (Glory).

The Legend is nice because of all the great snorkling stops - but I'm not sure we'd want to do that the whole time. We did the cave tubing in Belize, and I'm not sure what else we could do there.

The Miracle seems to be a very popular ship! We like the 8 days, but it would be nice to have another stop. I'm worried about the effect from the hurricanes too. Not sure we like the schedule: 2 sea days, then 3 stops, then 2 sea days for the return... but that's really the only way to get to the far south ports.

Just got off the Legend yesterday! We chose this cruise because it is port intensive (4 ports in 7 days). The snorkeling in roatan is some of the best in the world. We never made it to Grand Cayman due to Gustav. They took us to Key West instead. It's no Stingray City, but we made the most of it and had a blast at a bar called Irish Kevin's.
If you'd like to try something new in Belize go for the Landrover Tour. We ripped through some mud drenched backwoods roads and toured a cave on foot. In Cozumel we drove open top dune buggies to the beach for some more impressive snorkeling. My girlfriend doesn't snorkel, so she had all of Punta Sur Beach to herself for an hour or two. Loved this itinerary and would definitely book the Legend again.

Belize also has a very unusual zoo. When they say "natural habitat", they don't mean something man-made to simulate a habitat, they are in the jungle! While there, I saw, among other critters, a stork so huge that I now know how baby hippo's get delivered. It was actually a tad disorienting in a way, since I had no clue that a bird that big even existed outside of scifi movies.

I picked the second choice. Eventhough I've been to all of these ports it seems (to me) to be the better choice if you like port days.

Yeah, we like port days and sea days. In my mind, they are equal.

When looking for my crusie, I wanted the days at sea. But thats me. I have not been on the Miracle but looking forward to a new experence on 9/30/08. Plus NY is a lot cheaper for me to fly out of.

Praying for calm seas for all

Thanks for all the votes and replies. We decided on the Legend because it fit our schedule better. I'm looking forward to going back to some of the ports, and checking out Roatan. We may not spend much time off the ship in Belize though...

Your very welcome! I think you'll like the Legend. And Roatan is wonderful. Have fun.
