Default 'Live' hurricane watch from Galveston

Here's link to web cam at The Spot. You can see that they have moved the tables inside and boarded up the windows. Looks like some are having fun though.

Look closely at the folks you see on the cam. They are the ones that will be in boats or helicopters being rescued b/c they didn't evacuate !

Tomorrow will be interesting. We'll see how many are out in the wind. We should be able to see the waves hit the seawall from this cam as well.

Yikes! I just tried to pull up the cam. No service available. I hope it didn't blow away.

I guess it's coming in and out. They may be on satellite and the cloud cover is effecting transmission. Too bad I'd have liked to watched.

BTW--I'm satellite as well, I'll eventually lose computer then TV. Probably late tonight.

This is one serious storm. Carnival website (tropical storm changes) says the Conquest will be on regular schedule, which I find hard to believe.

How can the Conquest get back in to Galveston on Sunday a.m.???

The Sea Wall is being breached already. I lived in Houston for awhile and My aunt and grandma still do. I have seen it rain really hard for 10 mins and watched her yard look like a lake in just that short time. This is nuts. The storm hasnt even truely hit yet. The seawall is pretty high and on a normal day you need to look down to see water and now its splashing up and on to the street

The Conquest may be delayed until Monday. They have now updated web site just in case the harbor is not reopened until Monday. As long as the channel buoys have been checked I think they'll get everything going as soon as possible.

BTW-Every once in a while I'll get a photo from the Spot.

I only get a half of a picture and it is from 10:00 am this morning. Also there is NO ONE out there, so that is good.

Yes, I checked another web cam and it is also from 10:00 a.m. this morning.

Did anyone see Geraldo get knocked down by the big wave?

Thanks Dan. Right now we are in home and I have the windows covered. The wind is hitting 58 mph, according to the weather channel for this area (northwest Houston) and I expect the power to be out shortly. The lights have already been flickering. Thanks for your concern and thoughts.

I found a radio station on the web, ktrh.com and it is a live feed on the web with the latest information from the Houston/Galveston area. Very interesting information with people calling up and talking to the host. Bob

Never been a Geraldo fan, got very tired of him living in the Chicago area! Shows the firemen trying to tell him to move on but of course he goes for the sensational, guys an idiot!

Everything I've seen is scarey and I hope people are safe, Ike is still going to dump alot of rain, on areas that were flooded this spring.

Be safe!
