Default Why doesn't Carnival have-

Hand sanitizing stations like Royal Caribbean? It would be a cheap investment and could prevent thousands from getting the Norwalk Virus, I don't understand why they haven't added them on all ships, seems like a no brainer to me.

Mainly because hand sanitizer does not kill the Norwalk Virus.

And by putting up hand sanitizers people would be less likely to wash their hands which DOES kill the Norwalk Virus.

Yep,,it's been proven that they don't work very well, if at all. Just a waste of money, and time. They do, however, make you feel better.

Default hmmm

It makes sense but not everyone washes their hands enough anyway, so I would think that having hand sanitizers would at least prevent some other germs and viruses from being spread, and that would be better then nothing at all.

On my last cruise in Feb. Carnival had hand sanatizer stations everywhere. They had tons in the Lido deck restuarunt, lots by the main dining rooms, and lots everywhere else around the ship. I was on the Freedom.

We just cruised on the Jewel OS for 12 days and never saw one hand sanitizer. We were surprized because there were everywhere on Princess in February. We bring liquid Softsoap anitbacterial for our bathroom and faithfully wash our hands before we leave our cabin and when we return for the night.

On the Conquest, I found it rather odd, they ran virus info on the tv...but had no dispensers around the ship...

On the Brilliance in June RCI did have hand sanitizer and wipes everywhere, and chased one down to use them.

However, people still didn't wash their hands and people still got sick. At least 150 were quarantined.

I don't know that it made any more difference...

I have a child with Autism and Ataxia...so he has to hold on the every rail when he goes down steps etc. (plus he plays in the Arcade constantly)

So we do keep hand sanitizer in our cabin and use it several times a day.
We kinda have a rule...you use it when entering the cabin and when leaving the cabin.

For this reason, I have never really paid attention to which ships did or did not have it out in public. I do remember however, that the Victory had it before entering the formal dining room. I don't know why that stands out.

We just came off the Triumph on Sunday. No hand sanitizing lotion to be seen...but every single bathroom had a tissue dispenser attached to the door, so that you didn't have to touch the handles directly. I'm not sure anyone used them though.

Default hand sanitizer

Glad to hear some changes are being made, I honestly don't remember seeing it on any of my cruises.

Read this in a article:

"Hand sanitizers work by stripping away the outer layer of oil on the skin. This usually prevents bacteria present in the body from coming to the surface of the hand. However, these bacteria that are normally present in the body are generally not the kinds of bacteria that will make us sick. In a review of the research, Barbara Almanza, an associate professor at Purdue University who teaches safe sanitation practices to workers, came to an interesting conclusion. She notes that the research shows that hand sanitizers do not significantly reduce the number of bacteria on the hand and in some cases may potentially increase the amount of bacteria on the hand. "

Even the FDA recommended washing thouroughly with soap and water then an application of sanitizer.

We just got off the Pride on October 12th, and they were located on Lido deck around the buffet and deli-sandwich areas.

So they might of had it in the beginning of the year, and then took them away at the middle of the year and then brought them back.
