Last Summer my family and I went out there instead of doing an excursion. It was nice and clean, not overly crowded and despite what I've seen posted elsewhere there were no charges for use of beach chairs, etc. [One of our party ordered a few beers while we were there, so maybe that took care of it, I'm not sure ]

There were lots of little shops out there, too, knick knacks and beach supplies and the food from the restaurant smelled divine (though we weren't hungry while there so didn't order anything).

I want to say the taxi out there was 10 per person round trip (6 of us).

Cozumel has limited beaches because of the access and hotels.
Some of the hotels have day passes that will allow use of non motorized sports equipment and private beach.
Because of the current at various locations, many snorklers can end up 2 or 3-blocks from entry point.
Here is a web site for you to review.
If you have divers in your group, let me know. I have been diving Cozumel for over 20 years.

We went there for years before Paradise Beach opened....and we go to Paradise Beach now because it has more for the boys to do.

Just like Paradise Beach, there is NO admission.
They do no charge for tables, lounge chairs, restroom etc. They just expect you to eat/drink while you are there.

A taxi will run you $12 -15 one way for up to FOUR people (depending on where you dock). All of the West side of the island (commercial side) is rocky. Not bad, but bad enough that I wear beach shoes. Food is fine.

I have not checked Mr. Sanchos prices in several years, but I would imagine a regular frozen drink will run you about $7. A plate of cheese nachos about the same.

Of the ones we have been to:
The "free beach resorts" are Paradise Beach, Mr. Sanchos, CarlosNCharlies. The beach resorts that charge an entrance fee are Playa Mia. San Francisco Beach is weird...sometimes they charge for their lounge chairs...some times they don't.

We have never been to Nachi Cocom, but it is the all inclusive that lots of people like for mainly adults. $49.00 a person buys you all your drinks and one 3 course meal.

Again, taxis to all of these will be about the same.

Did Mr Sanchos last January. Like the others said it is clean, free and has tables, chairs and umbrellas to chill under. It was off season so it was quiet and we had our own waiter who took great care of us. Wish I could remember his name. We ate and drank $100 worth of stuff but it was great. The water and beach were warm and the sand was smooth. All in all a pretty good place to spend an afternoon...

Default COZUMEL BEACHES

My family and I went there this past August. Spent 3 hours there it was wonderful. The water was warm and clear. Boys went snorkeling and had a blast. We rented a taxi from the pier spent it was seven of us and it cost $70. for the total time. I did not eat the food as I spent my time in the water. But others said the food was ok and the drinks reasonable. There are about 5 little shops there selling tshirs/hats also reasonable price. It is worth the money it was not crowded like Paradise beach was. Also I noticed that at paradise beach there were guys with machine guns. Our guide said the more popular beaches hire them to protect the tourist.

We rent a car and drive to Playa Bonita on the east side of the island. The beach is beautiful and almost deserted. There is a bar/restaurant there where we get drinks and chips and salsa. It is quiet and beautiful there. We usually share a rental car with another couple.
