Default Christmas Cruising

Sailing Dec. 8th - question...is there a Christmas themed show that early in the month & when do the Christmas decorations come out? Anything else specific to Christmas on the ships?

We cruised Dec 18th - 25th a few years ago. There was a Christmas themed show on the 24th, and there were some decorations Some pax had there own decorations on their doors, but overall I didn't find the experience too festive. But hey many pax aren't there to celebrate Chistmas, and a cabaret show isn't really my way to celebrate.

I think it would be so cool to cruise during Christmas. But the prices are so high. I was looking at a 3 day cruise and for an interior room it was 600. That is so expensive. I just wish I could find a cheaper price for a Christmas cruise so I could try it out.

I sailed during the holidays, but on another line... it was a NY Eve cruise, and the decorations were still up...for what we paid we could have sailed twice, any other time of year....The decorations were quite unimpressive, and many were disappointed. I don't rememebr any holiday shows at all.

We sailed on "Miracle" just before Christmas last year,, and had such a GREAT time I booked it again for this year, December 7th. They do have the decorations out,,,tree and ginger bread house etc., and lots of Christmas music playing in the atrium etc. It's really a good time to cruise, and get away from the hustle and bustle at the malls for a while. I found the prices aren't too bad, except on Christmas week, so if you want to sail the week before,, check again. I think you'll like what you find.

Maybe we'll see you aboard!

So how soon do they put the decorations up before Christmas and how long do they keep them up after. And how long before and after do they do all the other stuff. I thought they just did it during the Christamas Cruise week. I know for Thanksgiving they dont do it before becuase our cruise came back the day of thanksgiving and nothing was up. They were putting stuff up after we left.

I HOPE they have the decorations up and a few christmas shows would be nice. We are cruising Dec 8th on the Fantasy. As for the price our cruise in June of 2007 was exactly 2 times as much as this one is costing us.
The price is what made us decide to try a Dec cruise.

I've cruised several times in early Dec. and don't recall ever seeing the ship already decorated for Christmas at that time.

I think "the norm" is for them to begin decorating just the week prior to Christmas.

And I don't remember any specific "christmas shows", even on a Christmas sailing, other than having the cruise staff and other carolling in the atriums.

I once sailed on the week of December 5th and the decorations were allready up. Very beautiful but it seemed weird with the warm weather because I am from the northeast. Bob

We sailed on the Conquest last Christmas. EVERYTHING was decorated for the holidays. They had a big show that was sort of Christmas themed. Our son even sang a solo when they brought the kids in from Camp Carnival.

All in all it was kind of cheesy, but it was nice in a Christmasy way.

What about on actual Christmas day? Do they have a special menu? Events? Also, I was curious if you're in port that day, if anything will be open.

I'm almost positive that we were at sea. I know that there was turkey in the dining room, but there was nothing memorable about the meal at all. We didn't hit Jamaica until that Wednesday and it was packed at the beaches.
