I guess we will just have to wait and see. Carnival has all the real numbers and they will make the best decision possible. So we will just have to wait and see where they put the Carnival Magic.

Once the kinks in the Houston terminal are worked out, Carnival may discover that people prefer it over Galveston.
Actually Houston had two NCL ships as the Dream and the Sun were both sailing from there after Katrina.

The Magic will be in F L O R I D A !!
Not all NEW Carnival ships are homeported to Florida because the Splendor will be in Florida for a little while and then homeported to Long Beach.
You are embarrassing yourself with this posting. As you state in your own post here, the Splendour will be in Florida...FLORIDA... for a little while, then moved to California. She goes to California in March 2009. That puts her ORIGINAL US home port in Florida. You are admitting she will be in Florida to start with!!!

I meant she is not being homeported in Flordia for an extended period of time. Meaning years.

Magic would go to doing a 7 day schedule and the Triumph will revert back to a 4/5 day or be replaced with a Fantasy class ship. Or the other option would be continue on the 4/5/7 schedule and pull the Triumph out.

I don't think with such a new and big ship they would ever do 4/5/7 schedule.

They will only do 7 or longer I think.

yeah but even the Conquest was a trip to get down that river....I remember the twists and turns and the ship leans...it's a little scary....
And a LONGER ship would only be worse.
ALot of people have commented on falling dishes and glasses and things tipping over once in awhile making the journey.
New Orleans is better off with an 88,000 ton ship that can get down the river easier.......unless of course they can widen the river....or figure out how to head out the the gulf going east towards Mobile....much shorter...but probably no way to get that done.

Update - Turns out the Carnival Magic went to Galveston. The Triumph and Disney Magic are there as well. The Crown Princess will be cruising out of Galveston soon. Also, the Port of Houston did not beat out Galveston.
Just came across this post and thought I would update y'all.
Happy cruising!
